Didn’t gamergate “end” years ago and Zoe Quinn is now more successful than any progamergater? Is this what you guys have to latch on to in order to try to feel better?
I think Milo Yeahidunnohowtospellhislastnameopolis was more successful/infamous than her.
It depends on how you define success, I guess.

So I guess after gamergate fizzled out because no one gives a shit about a bunch of angry neckbeards vs. dangerhairs, they decided to pick an even more niche form of children's entertainment to focus their autistic rage at.

Jesus Christ
Can't wait for LegoGate and JuiceBoxGate.

Fuck yeah.

The decline of comic book sales is one problem Marvel and others hav been trying to solve for decades. It's like the decline of moviegoers, they just can't figure it out. So somewhere down the line Marvel thought this was the big change to get that green they've been wanting. Clearly it didn't work.

Also comic reading can be an expensive hobby with Marvel comics usually nearing 5-6 bucks a pop. I'm guessing the targeted audience got to the store, realized how much they'd have to spend and said fuck it.

The idea of selling short drawn stories on pieces of paper to niche retailers who are constantly going out of business seems silly in current year. This isn't the depression era where penny comics were one of few recreations for children. Competition in other mediums and forms of distribution are cannibalizing people who would have read traditional comics.

For as much as the Marvel movies are popular I think the concept of a super hero has never seemed more trite and unappealing, too.

It's quite an achievement to write a character so loathsome that when she punches Hitler, you want to see Hitler punch her back.

Congratulations, Gabby Rivera. There is something spectacularly wrong with you.

This. A million times this. The entertainment business of old are in the middle of a downward spiral and SJW taking over is just a symptom, not the cause. Same goes for the videogame industry, the movie making industry and so forth. When a medium is unable to evolve, it gets desperate. This is the result of decades of non-evolution and lack of vision. Take the Team Fortress 2 comics, for instance; they use the fully digital medium to its advance with the paneling and the release method. Why doesn't Marvel go full digital with a subscription fee? Why don't they take the Netflix route and only print on-demand? Wouldn't be great to pay for an entire digital series and just buy a physical copy whenever you like it enough to actually have it? Invest in such platform, get with the times and stop feeding these talentless beggars who make a product that nobody actually consumes. I wanna be entertained, not preached god dammit

There's a few places you can legally buy comics in digital only format for the same price as those in a physical store. However I agree, much like how Steam and Netflix have helped to significantly reduce piracy it's still not quite there. A crunchyroll-esque service would be good for the industry.

The other issue is another comic attempted this and failed miserably. The Dandy was the third longest running comic book in the world, starting in 1937 and saw the same decline as other comics did by the 2000's. When sales dropped to under 8k a week they moved to online-only formats and the comic tanked just 6 months later. The Beano (another UK staple) has moved to the format you kind of push for, mostly online only and is busy with a well established studio making Beano related media.

To be honest, the massive success of various Manga (My hero Academy in particular) means there's a lot of tanks parked on the lawn of the old comics houses, and they're just not prepared to try and publish something "different" (when's the last time you heard of a slice-of-life story from DC or Marvel?) after what's just happened with their hideous foray into the SJW crowd that's now even less likely.

That's a real problem though, do you criticize the state of a hobby you are involved in? Or do you just decide cut all ties and avoid any hobbies the corporate diversity machine takes over and hope the money dries up for them? I'm thinking there's not going to be many hobbies left for you if you just decide to stop participating when this happens.

What you, and lots of other people tend to do, is vote with their wallets. Why bother with a hobby when it's been colonized by morons who don't understand it? You either move to a new segment, or don't support it as well as you did previously. Most companies only remember the power of the consumer when they stop consuming.

People were fine with diversity when it came to characters like Wiccan because his sexuality felt natural and inconsequential. While being gay was part of his character, it didn't define him and he wasn't a preachy little brat like America Chavez. That's the kind of diversity that works- it's tasteful and it feels organic, not politically motivated or pander-y.

What's perhaps so funny about all of this is it's not fucking hard to come up with good ideas that could work well.

Here's one I got while just browsing this shitty thread:

Mexican Punisher: Main character has some law enforcement background so has some weapons training, manages to bust some big shot from a cartel, guy gets let go because corruption, kills said MC's family, MC goes on hellbent revenge against specific cartel, hopping the border to go after their whole operation.

Could even team up at times with the one and only Frank Castle, and you could even have the batshit insanity of them at times going up against the CIA/FBI due to their frequent involvement in keeping cartels "chained" or as part of an operation.

Now the clever bit, the comic gets published bi-lingually, English half, Spanish half. Flog it both sides of the border and talk about the massive massive fucking Drugs problem that's forcing Mexicans and others north illegally in the first place.

It's probably what's so bizarre about this all, because they've had some vague education in this realm they somehow become an authority on what's "woke".

Most of you fags dont even read comics anymore yet here you are huffin' and puffin' over this gay shit
