Speaking of, David Mariotte (who I assume is high up at Image Comics) has been raging about DnC, who as expected is not impressed:

What does he mean by 'admirable strangers'? Is sperging about how comics don't have enough lesbians in them on twitter considered admirable now?
He's works at IDW.

And admirable strangers is whatever genderspecials and special snowflakes he believes are buying their publications (:optimistic:).

Also, Kurt Eichenwald has gone crazy at DnC for some reason and is bombarding him with emails and apparently threatening to sue him. The man is setting the gold standard for lolcowdom. He's also changed his story about the whole tentacle porn thing from 'I was demonstrating weird internet stuff to my wife' to 'we were playing Freak Out Mom which is a game in our family'. Yeah, changing a story usually isn't a good sign.
He already had a thread before the whole Comicsgate thing began, it's featured now.

I think that Kurt's involvement is what takes Comicsgate from being a small-scale slapfight to a full-blown autism event. There's no other explanation for why Kurt has put himself in the middle of all this, and autism is also the only thing that explains him turning his focus to D&C now.

David Mariotte. Started working as an assistant editor at IDW in 2016, before that he worked at a bookstore. From his Linkedin:
I am currently the interim editor of the Transformers line of titles, Atomic Robo, and Wynonna Earp. I am the editor of The October Faction and Rom and the Micronauts, co-editor of Scarlett's Strike Force, former editor of Insufferable, and editor of upcoming projects. I am the assistant editor on a number of other titles including Transformers Vs. The Visionaries and Sonic the Hedgehog. I also wrote the miniseries, Hanazuki: Full of Treasures.
Scarlett's Strike Force, what a surprise. LOL

He got his Bachelor's in 2016, majoring in journalism, and minoring in gender studies, so he's probably 24-25. What a fucking mess.

You missed out the best bit of his LinkedIn profile:

Volunteer Experience
  • Intern
Company Name Feminists Organized to Resist, Create and Empower (FORCE)
    Dates volunteered Aug 2015 – May 2016
    Volunteer duration 10 mos
Cause Civil Rights and Social Action

As an intern for FORCE (through the University of Arizona), I have helped put together programs including weekly Feminist Connection events - discussions, menstrual pad stitching, and more; special tabling events on the University mall; protests and direct actions - like SlutWalk 2015 and the initial protest of the Marginalized Students of the University of Arizona; written press releases; helped create zines; keep up with feminist readings; helped organize a feminist book club; and more

To his credit though he's the least male-feminist-looking male feminist I've seen. Rape allegations when?

Of course I can't find it now, but, someone was arguing that making the characters in Marvel comics line up with their movie versions (i.e., ORIGINAL) was bad because people who may want to get into the comics from the movies will now be seeing more of the same and "missing an opportunity to broaden their horizons"

I don't know about you, but when I order a steak in a restaurant, I expect to get a steak.

If the waiter put a heap of kelp on my table instead and when I pointed out that wasn't what I ordered said "try broadening your horizons", how long do you think I'd continue going there?

And yet, we know SJWs don't practice what they preach because not only did they not buy a single issue of what they purportedly wanted, if one of their gay/trans/whatever waifus were suddenly turned straight on them with "broaden your horizons" as the excuse, we all know they'd go apeshit.

Hypocrisy infuriates me, if they put a gun to my head and said "do it or else" I wouldn't be half as mad, I'd at least appreciate they weren't trying to bullshit me

An easy counter-argument to that would be to point out that having the characters that already exist in the MCU as the introductory characters would still be "broadening their horizons" because there are dozens of characters who has never had screen time in the MCU that these alleged new readers could be introduced to and potentially gain familiarity with and, were they to get popular enough through those avenues, might be able to work their way up to the films or shows.

Or, since film and TV have more reach, maybe they can instead just focus on the films and shows that have all the minority demographics that they want in it and but the comics related to those. Seems like it worked out for the Runaways adaptation (granted I heard it was a steaming garbage fire with "how do you do fellow kids" tier dialogue) and it hasn't seemed to have occurred to any of these dumbfucks that Tumblr darling Khamala Khan won't be gracing screens any time soon considering the Inhumans show sank harder than the Titanic. With how often they screech about keeping objectively terrible books just for the minority status of the leads, clearly quality isn't an issue for these people.

Of course not. It bears repeating that these people don't actually read comics. With the popularity of the MCU, these people are latching on to nerd culture (without materially supporting it) and trying to twist it to their distorted worldview.

I love how this meme still exists. The "correct side of history" is yelling at customers telling your comics are bad and you're unprofessional. All this is over one writer saying he's not going to block people.

Someone should tell Tess that all the comic books that are remembered by history managed to appeal to a large audience, last for decades, and sell tens of thousands of copies, not books that focus on a super niche base, last for 3 issues, and sell as well as dog food at Brianna Wu's house.

History has no side, no end and no foreordained conclusions. Only a Marxist or a Christian could possibly think otherwise.

That's a little unfair, the idea of history having a coarse is the lovechild of whiggish history, natually because people are naive they're always looking for a simple narration of events.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whig_history

People always think of history as a story whereas it's actually swirling pit of chaos, shitting up your naive models but Pretty much everyone does it because we're looking for justification for the now.

EDIT- a powerlevel tangent but I actually saw this in action when I was at a high school for an community event last sunday. The walls where covered in articles and images celebrating britains fondness for 'tolerance' ignoring the actual brutal realities of british history-an false idea built because we strive to be decent so we pretend our ancestors wernt the sort of people who burnt down a synagogue because of blood libel.

It's even funnier how Tess says she's "on the correct side of history" as I believe she doesn't currently have a job and is only connected to the industry by being part of these cliques that are currently shitting things up. You'd think the guy actually succeeding is the one who's currently writing a Batman series and understands that his job is "Give people Batman and be professional while representing your company".
