I agree that he is jumping on this for clicks, but it's not too hard to see parallels between whats happening to Vic and Ethan's situation in 2017-2018. I'm not 100% up to date on the Vic lore, but from what I've seen if we change 'creepy rapist' to 'racist nazi' it appears to be the same smear campaign against a better and more popular industry figure.

Well, there's a couple important differences. For one, DC didn't outright fire him; it seems they just got really awkward until he decided to quit on his own. Secondly, he's not living in fear of being arrested and given a prison sentence because someone accused him of being a racist nazi.

He's been talking about some bad copies in his videos and how to get replacements if people would like them (Good Guy Zack). We would have to know the numbers to see just how many have gone bad during shipping for example 70/10421 is 0.67%. It might be a combination of him wanting everything perfect, getting faster responses due to the higher quantity shipped compared to his other campaign and maybe more damaged international numbers.

Anecdotally I've seen a number of responses similar to this, in which it's the postman who doesn't give a shit.

That really sucks, but good on him for going out of his way to make everything right by his backers when so many of his detractors can't even ship their projects several years after they were funded.

Ya Boi has several strengths, but arguably his greatest one is in customer service. He not only doesn't try to make his readers feel like racist pieces of shit, but he actually seems to be respectful of his customers and grateful to receive their financial support. That builds up a lot of credit with people! Its probably why he's built such an audience without the advantage of fame or industry credit like EVS.

Wow. His passion came thorough in that text post, but it really comes through in the video. And I get it; all the shit he's had to go through to get this book in readers' hands, and just when he thinks he's crossing the finish line, someone he was trusting puts a stumbling block in his lane. The feels.

Good on him for not giving up and making sure things are made right. It would be so easy to just say "Sorry, guys, I tried, wasn't my fault" and just sit the rest out. But Meyer isn't going to be satisfied with busted-up books in his customers' hands. If he keeps this attitude up, I think he's gonna have a bright future in the industry - or, rather, outside of it…

There are some people who get upset at the idea that EVS would ever do something in his waking hours other than draw his frogs. I don't think that's fair. Let the guy have a few hours in his day when he does something else. Otherwise, burnout is inevitable.

That being said, yes, there are probably better ways he could spend his break time than involving himself further in drama, especially drama which isn't even in his industry.

He's algorithm riding. EVS is grinding for subs at the moment (having lately crossed the 100k subs line) so he's churning out videos on trending topics that are doing good numbers for Geeks and Gamers.
Like the boomer he is, EVS is mimicking 2016 anti-sjw content, arriving about two years late to that party.
You can see it with his Captain Marvel videos, they're cheap rage-bait, filled with hyperbole and designed to generate a twatter reaction that generates further content, it's lazy, lacking any real analysis and tends to come off as mean-spirited. If you want a considered look at the numbers for Captain Marvel you can check out Grace Randolph's box-office breakdowns which are quite good and put in the work.

I wasn't impressed by his Peter Semeti swatting video either. EVS used that unfortunate situation to indulge his grudge against Renfamous, no wonder she sperged out on twitter, he didn't accuse her of being a swatter but his laughably lurid tabloid delivery with Ren's bloated and sinister visage floating (ominous music included) behind every sinister post in the video, he practically implies she instigated it. As The Doktor pointed out a few pages back however, the real villain's of that piece are Tamra Bond-villain and Jennifer De Guzman, who organized the whisper network that targeted Alterna, but oddly the ringleaders of the harassment seem to have gotten a pass in favor of jabbing at Renfamous for the LOL's I guess.
At this point he's just actively sperg baiting for controversy and clicks while indulging petty grudges. That can be a dangerous game for someone who seem to enjoy feeding off controversy and constantly poking hornets nests, it makes it exponentially more likely (as Elwood P. Dowd, pointed out) that EVS will walk himself straight into youtube's ban hammer or catch a strike on his channel. Loosing the ability to stream on his main channel would be pretty bad for business.
When EVS is delivering laid back, sarcastic and humorous commentary he's fine and knows where the line is, but his worrying tendency towards ham-fisted attempts to be Ethan Ralph or Metokur....who he's decidedly not, means that there's every chance of EVS Mark Waid-ing himself with some extremely injudicious remark or inference. It's not like there isn't a whole cohort of spergs out there waiting for an opportunity to plant the knife. That makes me wonder if his 'Starwars community expose featuring Bryan Young' follow up video that never dropped hasn't been wisely parked to avoid legal writs being issued.
That controversy, which low key mirrors the whole Vic Mignogna situation, certainly has the potential to see a lot of LOL-suits flying given how explosive it is. If that's why it's sitting on the shelf, it makes me a little hopeful that EVS might just be possessed of enough common sense to avoid burning his channel to the ground.

My Jawbreakers book came just fine - only a tiny bit of what he called "sanding" on one corner.
Also, I thought he was originally planning to sign a bunch of labels and stick the signed labels into the books, but mine was signed directly, which I thought was a nice touch.

I think Zack's maybe being a bit too perfectionistic about the whole thing - in his video he makes it sound like they packaged the comic up in a bag of razor wire and steel wool, but it's a pretty standard cheap mailer. Absolutely not weatherproof, but under normal circumstances it would have been good enough to get it to people in the condition I got it in. If he'd shrinkwrapped the books on top of that, as he mentions, that probably would have been enough.
The thing is that he seems to want every single copy to be a pristine museum piece, which is only ever going to happen if you use a real shipping box for every one.

It's a mistake to focus on that utter muppet as anything but a lolcow. While that nasty little nitwit desperately wishes anyone cared what she thought enough to inspire a swatting, it's giving her way too much credit to pretend she does.

This is kind of his dream project, plus he's been under a ton of pressure to perform and deliver a quality product. Granted, when you compare to the years-overdue SJW crowd that are driving a lot of that criticism (Zach's a week late! #ComicsGateFAIL!) he's a saint, but the man has high standards and he holds himself personally accountable. Its an attitude we need more of in this world.
 
That's great, but will i get a fucking comic out of this? Doll it up as much as you want, but ZackRCM was my first time actually putting faith into a crowdfund. Am I supposed to feel bad because it shat the bed? At this point, crowdfunds are the tithing boxes of the current generation. And I fucking hate it.

I suppose the EVS crowdfund is next.

Apparently there's a controversy surrounding YellowFlash tonight. He was on someone's stream and confronted with information that one of his friends was a pedophile, but he refused to believe it and condemn the friend, and now people are hypothesizing that he himself is a pedo too. Does anyone have the full goss?

Gotta say, the internet's habit of accusing everyone and their mother of being a pedophile is getting old. I know very little about this story, but I'm inclined to disbelieve it based on that alone.

No info on whose channel he was on or who the friend was? I did a quick Twitter search and didn't see anything. I'd think that the KickVic folks would be all over that if it was true. We'll have to wait and see. But yeah, I'm over the pedo thing too.

Sorry, I didn't catch that. I heard this on a Stream.Me stream that was sniping Ralph's Discord voice chat channel. I went in there and listened in myself, but as usual with one of those things where eight people are talking over each other, it was tough to get a complete story out of the mess.
