As a hard line left winger it's hard to articulate how deeply disapointing the arrival of people like this guy was, the reponse to the cringy uninsightful Sargons of the world and their little posse of sped fanboys and knock off was the emergance of a knock left wing Sargons, how fucked are we that Contra is the smartest of the bunch?

I've never seen a supermarket sell comic books before; if they even bother to have a print section it's usually just some cheap paper backs and recent best sellers. Also, you ever have those Most Stuff oreos? They're so thick you can see the teeth marks you leave behind in the stuff.

I don't understand how anyone with a functioning memory can seriously argue that there is a lack of representation of women or Strong Female Characters™ in fiction in CURRENT YEAR + 4, or that there is still some sex-based "glass ceiling" in CURRENT YEAR + 4.

I think that Marvel Ladies book is actually very interesting. Not that I would buy it, but it’s a book (supposedly) marketed towards women that actually features art of the characters looking like real fairly attractive women. Even the old ladies page has some GILFs on it. And all the characters actually look fun and like they’re somebody I’d enjoy reading about. I wonder how many degrees of seperation are between the people who made this book and the people who make the comics where every female comes off as a sour bitch and every male comes off as an impotent moron.

I mean just look at the 2 Carol Danvers drawings vs Brie Larson. Which one seems more exciting to you? I’ve never agreed with the argument that every female character needs to look like a supermodel; I think some diversity in design is good. But I think generally superheroes are meant to be idealized versions of humanity. Current comics refuse to admit that an idealized woman looks different than an idealized man and refuse to give us either.

That writing does look god-awful though.

I ain't crazy about guns, but in what world is telling a woman to maybe pack some heat if they travel in a dangerous neighborhood a big political statement? It's nothing. Wouldn't even be a blip on my lefty radar if I was reading it. If anything, it's reasonable.

What's impressive is the bit at the end where different Bleeding Cool contributors or Comics "Journalists" seem to be bickering about what was actually said in the meeting. Because nobody was invited and they had no direct sources. So they would appear to be following Rich Jonston's normal technique of Simply Making Shit Up.
