A kickstarter anthology with like 50 Twitter users as writer is a bit stereotypical. Just a bit.

That's bait. Plainly bait, they're trying to get YaBoi/EVS's attention for this project. Just ignore it, although I know EVS will pounce on it the moment he finds out.
Well TUG's already poking at it, so I'm expecting a stream or two in the coming week. Also Ren is apparently just on twitter timeout. She really riled up the weebs and comic nerds and now they're flagging her to hell which is fine with me. She needs a good muzzle.

I wanna see how they're gonna divvy up that 25k between all of them

I'll bet this grosses at least $100K. If Kwanzer by himself could get almost $50K for White I'm assuming this will do better than that. Would be funny as hell if it didn't, though, but I think that's what we're looking at.

$10 gets you a digital copy and more importantly a mention in the thank you section. If all the prominent CGers signed up for that, would they honor that pledge? ?

It would be a Problem with Kickstarter if they dont.

I'll bet Mags is going to go nuclear when she finds out that she doesn't get top billing and instead has her name allllll the way in the small print at the bottom. Even worse, a cosplaying hag like RenFatAss is getting her name listed before Mags as well. This is no way to treat an EISNER nominated writer!

Its resume padding. Now that Ren has a writing credit under her belt, she can get hired by Marvel to write Girl Scientist Girl, a comic book about a girl scientist.

No, no, no. It's going to be Black Girl Scientist Black Girl (like Moon Girl and ReeeeReee!), who will be smarter than Dr. Doom, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Henry McCoy, Tony Stark, Dr. Octopus, and Bruce Banner COMBINED even though they have 2000 PhDs between them and Black Girl Scientist Black Girl hasn't finished elementary school yet.

For real, though. Maybe it's just because of Zack's videos, but she seems like less of a nobody than most of the top-billed people. And going by the art they use, it doesn't seem like they demoted her as part of an appeal to normies or something. Wonder what's up. #JusticeForMags

Anyway, TUG's video is a nothingburger. He basically claims that since Ren is selling a book now, kind of, she can no longer claim to be outside of the industry or not have a stake in it. Not exactly proof of paid Firebell-ish tactics.

And they’ve named it “Dead Beats”. Could they be more obvious? TUG already pointed out that it is pretty much financially unviable. Leave it at that. It’s bait. It’s just another gay op designed to highlight how hateful the Comicsgators are. Simply wish Renfamous luck and truthfully say we are looking forward to getting our hands on the completed work. (I mean we know it will be comedy gold.)

Is Ren actually a fatty? I've heard mixed things on that.

No, not really. Her face makes her look chubbier than she really is.

Reminder, we now have live video of Ren screeching.

@Least Concern that post is from 2 years ago.

I agree. Why put Ren in this? She's a cosplay thot who's getting too fat to wear her costumes, not someone with experience in writing or drawing comics. It's obvious that she was put in so they can make her the Anita $camkesian of comics, crying for pitybux the second EVS questions why a talentless fat cosplay thot is involved in this project.

Wonder if the KS creators know there's already a horror graphic novel titled "Deadbeats".

Seems like a copyright issue in the making.

Nah. Book titles repeat all the time. Can be confusing, but I don't think the title by itself causes a problem.

My favorite: The Could Atlas (Historical fiction set in World War II) vs. Cloud Atlas (Weird science fiction book made into even weirder movie) - The World War II book was actually published first but was way less popular than the SF title. The author wrote a funny blog post about what happened next.

GoodReads also has at least five books with the exact title The Outsider, ranging from Stephen King to Richard Wright to Howard Fast. Never mind The Outsiders, Outsider, etc.

Didn't she like a guy one time?

Peppermint Patty and Marcie are canonically straight and both madly in love with Charlie Brown.

Also, in her first couple of appearances, Marcie was a couple of years younger than Peppermint Patty (hence why she calls her "Sir", as Marcie was introduced in a summer camp arc where PP was put in a cabin with a bunch of young campers and Marcie treated PP as the resident adult in the room). She got aged up to PP's age the same way Linus and Lucy was when she became a regular/part of PP's class.

Also, PP's "relationship" with Snoopy always hinged on the idea that Peppermint Patty is kind of re-tar-ded. Though "Snoopy Go Home" IIRC was the only time the writers explicitly pushed the idea of PP being unknowingly into bestiality.

The big issue is that the reveal that both PP and Marcie were madly in love with Charlie Brown, and subsequent pining for him and attempts at courtship, were in the 80s and 90s. The 80s strips were only reprinted like once and quickly fell out of print until Fantographic and the mass retail Peanuts In the 80s omnibus came along. While the 90s had super sporadic print runs until the Fantographic HCs were released. So this major change in their character (the reveal that they were in love with Charlie Brown, who barely recognized it) never punctuated the mass collective consciousness, which let things like the Family Guy and SNL jokes about them being gay supersede actual canon. Especially once Schulze died and wasn't around to try and counter it.

Of course, because nothing can ever be simple fun in their eyes. The miserable pricks absolutely hate the idea of fun.

To be fair, Schulze was kind of schizophrenic with his political views. He actually did an anti-Vietnam script about the riots (Daisy Hill Puppy farm was consumed by a riot over service dogs dying in Vietnam and Linus/Charlie Brown comment about how riots might have a point) but he also did stuff like a one-off strip where Sally is forced to talk about how kids had to secretly pray in school because of laws banning school prayer.

That said, I do think the fact that we're sitting here discussing Schultz's characters all these years later is a real badge of honor for him as a creator and it's due to the strength of the characters he brought to life, not whatever headcannon-esque bullshit troons are using to write off their worldview. It's like stolen valor, you know?

The funny thing is that Schulze was huge about canon/consistency to the point that, when the cartoons started to basically making their own canon (giving characters without last names full names, deviating from the strip's portrayal of Marcie by making cartoon Marcie a literal re-tar-ded idiot, or showing the Red Headed Girl), Schulze basic flipped and declared the cartoons non-canon. Furthermore, as noted in another post of mine, it wasn't until Schulze's death (when he couldn't object or oppose it) that you started seeing the mainstream media push the PP/Marcie as lesbians meme.

I don't think Schulz ever considered the specials canonical, though. Admittedly, there were a few he genuinely didn't like (specifically It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown, the one where the show the Little Red-Haired Girl and give her a name), but I don't think he ever considered any of them to be canon.
