People are desperate and scared. There's opportunity. For now.

That said, WCs 'self-appointed homosexual political commissars of CG' activity needs to be repurposed into something more diplomatic that fosters goodwill within the group, instead of policing wrongthink and trying to coerce CG members into ideological compliance. That shit has stunted CG's growth and driven off more creators and platforms than anything else at this point. I'd hate to see it happen twice.

I used to think Frog did. I'm now convinced he does not. He doesn't need to expand. He's squeezing a good amount of money out of his base. WC, wannabes without talent that want him to prop their trash up, and a loose assortment of culture warriors who aren't prepared to write him off because he makes the right people mad.

Looks like a shop actually did take Ya Boi up on his $1k offer. Nice to know some shops are paying attention to him. And few other pros are following suit and making their own offers.

Also Ya Boi is back under $200k for Expendables because he refunded the Chromium perk when he crunched the numbers some more and realized it was gonna be too expensive to do that and the normal books.

Nah, if Frog only cared about squeezing money and going full CG Juche hermit kingdom, he wouldn't spend so much of his time trying to get other creators like Adam Post funded. This makes no sense from a purely profit-oriented perspective. But in terms of following CG principles as a business model and putting an end to far leftists' ability to cancel creators, these are the only actions that carry any real meaning. I have to give credit when he practices what he preaches.

Physical copies dominated the market and 30% of their RRP went into making, distribution and store cuts. When digital services like Steam started and removed the need for making physical copies and distributing them the RRP and 30% cut stayed the same. With that 30% cut Steam turned into a juggernaut and provides tons of services to the consumers and the producers. Recently Epic decided to compete with Steam and hyped that the Epic store would only take a 12% cut, many stories ran with the PR that games would be cheaper, workers get more money, etc, etc. When Epic launched prices were still the same, workers didn't get more money and the 12% cut crippled any improvements to be made to the store (they didn't even have a shopping cart for more than a year. Epic had to bribe companies millions for exclusives that went up in price and for shorter time frames each time.

Why do you ascribe the worst possible motive to everything I do?

What would be the benefit to me of having a hundred comic creators bothering me like Preston Poulter did if I had no intention of trying to help them?

I don't need to do that. My fans will still love me if I don't. I'll still make a ton of money on CyberFrog if I wanted to only promote myself.

Promoting other people has caused all kinds of chaos, envy and discord.

I still do it because I believe in setting an example for other indie creators. Promote each other, build a network. Cancel Cancel Culture.

If I can help build that, I feel like we've beaten the SJWs in comics in a substantive way.

Even if true, how is this a bad thing? Not even getting into a larger collective customer pool, more people getting on board means more potential innovation than any one person could even think of trying at once. If nothing else, Doug TenNapel demonstrated to CG how popular a gimmick like premium packaging can be.

Or just contrast results between YBZ's few-options crowdfunder model vs Smiller's variant cover extravaganzas. After all, "Only a fool learns from their own mistakes", to quote Otto Bismarck.

I realize in Kwanza's case that's next to impossible, but if it was genuinely SJW free and (gasp!) told a story which would appeal to CG readers, what then?

And what about the worst-case scenario - the book was chock-full of SJW pandering, but he (or she) insisted on riding on CG's coattails, anyway? How would that be denounced (apart from the usual Tug, Quartering, or YF YouTube video)?

There isn't even a point in speculating about this. This would be like asking if the GOP would suddenly accept Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer into the party. CG's audience would simply leave and any audience member for those other people wouldn't come. They'd both be dead in the water assuming fans honestly thought either group was breaking bread.

I might be wrong, but it seems like EVS is trying to get him to change his business model. I don't think he's doing it maliciously, but I feel like this could lead to less sales and more cost, than the opposite.
Peter taking business advice from Ethan would be fucking retarded. Overpriced comics with average stories that get delivered over a year late? Alterna would be ruined.

I think the benefit would be all yours, Peter already has the printing, distribution and audience available to Alterna. What do you and CG bring to the table other than gayops and drama? If anything I think CG would be a detriment to Alterna, his rode the fence pretty well over the years a direct association to CG would make Alterna vulnerable to SJW strong-arming similar to what Waid did to Antarctic Press.

I find that tweet from Mags reinforces the theory I explained several pages back. One of the true self destructive goals of these SJWs is to deliberately sabotage Diamond and the LSC's. I'm sure the bean counters at AT&T and Disney scratch their heads at why this current model exists. I recently got back from Japan and Disney has specialty stores in Tokyo and Kyoto filled with toys, posters, plushies and clothing. The one item I noticed was absent was Marvel's comics, could be because Manga dominates, or it could be because the current model of distribution doesn't allow it. AT&T and Disney probably have in-house distribution services, Diamond is a middleman on borrowed time imho.

Doug also inspired Ethan with his latest chicken box premium packaging and the Earthworm Jim paper blockhead figure inspired Ethan with a similar stretch goal on Unfrogettable Tales. No matter what Ethan does, his always playing second fiddle to Doug and it drives him nuts.

Doug even just recently relented on his long standing position on digital copies. Since hitting 100K on BFB2, his offering a digital tier for BFB1 and 2 and they come free to all physical backers. Doug hates digital due to piracy, it shows his a stand up guy when it comes to compromising for better value for his backers.

I stopped following this thread back in the day around page 500, when Weeb Wars really kicked off. I've been slowly reading through it and the parts with LNC are pure autism. He was schizophrenic on his position towards Ethan, sucking him off one minute, calling him a fat faggot the next, praising him as the greatest artist of our age and then tearing him apart as a human being.

I haven't laughed so hard in my life.

I think with a topic like this it would be a disservice to have others on, unless they themselves were involved in Comicsgate. I think that this topic should be handled with some form of seriousness.

It would be easy to do what you said, but I think that this topic should get a better representation to the opposing view. I noticed that a lot of the detractors are smaller channel that Ethan easily waive away. Though with us. We have some audience reach and I think might have some things that most people don't know brought to light. I know for myself... I didn't know a lot about the ins and outs of CG and EVS until a couple weeks ago.

The topic is middle aged men angry about serialized illustrated fiction marketed towards (man)children. Bringing unrelated guests on to shout over Ethan as he tries to spin whatever he's doing as a glorious crusade is exactly the respect it deserves

Personally. I think that this is a lot of EVS' issues with Doug. Petty jealousy to be honest. I noticed that Ethan has been searching for an IP to co opt, like Rainbow Brite. He wants it so bad because Doug has a well known IP in Earthworm Jim. I personally think that Doug would of outsold EVS if it wasn't for the manipulation of the consumer base's outrage and the slandering of Doug. I think that EVS is threatened by Doug, because man... He continues to hound Doug every chance he gets. He also does that paranoid move of everyone against him MUST BE in league with Doug. Scheming to take him and his frog down lol. It's kinda sad. Ethan has a lot and has accomplished a lot, but I don't think it will ever be enough for him as long as Doug is still around and getting backers. EVS wants to be the top dog in Comicsgate and Independents, so if anyone gets in the way of that. He will turn on them and cast them out. Those still hanging around Ethan... I hope they understand that. Ethan is a narcissist and narcissists are NEVER to blame for anything. They always look outwardly to blame people around them for failures. So people like Jim Malin and Cecil will eventually come under fire. It's not a matter of IF, but of WHEN.

The funny and ironic thing about EVS is... He blames Doug for a lot of shit and says Doug is conspiring to take him down. Eventually Doug is gonna take him down, but not to the device "Doug" put out there. It's going to be because of EVS' obsession with Doug that is ultimately gonna be his undoing.
