Kwanzer cannot write a legible tweet and is pretending to be a writer?

As for Mags, the hateboner for her is that she is the embodiment of everything wrong with the modern comicbook industry. I had some positive experiences with her on twiter and, writing-wise, she has some potential for emotionally charged dialogues, despite the fact she cannot write a story. Unfortunately, transitioning from a wannabe fanboi to a pro woman in comics does nothing to improve ones writing...

That being said, she was promoted way before she had improved her craft, has been mentored by Gail 'fake geek auntie' Simone, who is... let's say not the most suited person to teach somebody how to write and, at the moment, she is a tainted brand.

Speaking of tainted brands and bad writing:

Let me tell you a secret about publishing and bookbuying, as a buyer of books: People doing self-publishing as a full-time job, publish books people want to read.
There is no use having a great cover for an uninteresting book or having a series of unsellable books.
A great cover will make people curious to read your blurb and if it is a series some of those who read the first book (expect around 50%) will buy the second, then will go on buying the rest. And with every new book coming out, you will have people buying the older ones and getting into the series.
Unless you understand why this advice is being given, you cannot make it work.

Let me tell you something: YBZ books are mediocre at best. But people buy them because he can hype them on his videos and because they are stuff people want to read. Expendables with superpowers, bordertown shoot-em-ups and a conspiracy thriller set in the covid era are cool concepts that have an audience. And, additionally, people like Zack, they tune in to listen to him talking comics and also listen about how his projects are going. Reading the actual book, after listening about how it is being made, is the culmination of the experience, the end of a journey and this covers for a lot of the badness.
Cyberfrog had some issues with the story and the writing. But once Ethan shows an impressive page, you want to see more of it.
This is YouTube marketing at its best - you have your audience join you while making that book, to the point where they are willing to spend a couple dollars to read the damned thing.

Now, you are twenty something, have published 4 books and 3 comicbooks successfully. You work hard and you are focused. This means you have all it takes to make a career.
What you lack is the craft (but you will get there) and the sales.
Maybe people do not want to read your books. Maybe supernatural horror is not selling.
Have you thought about taking your ideas about Brutas, repurposing them in another sci fi concept and writing some badass sci fi? There are a lot of self published sci fi authors so there is probably an audience there.

I would suggest you get a dayjob, get off the internet, go out and talk to real people, date a girl or two, see what reality is all about. People read to escape reality and this is what you should give them. But you have to know people to know what they want.
The reason modern comics suck is because they are written by losers who can't get of the internet long enough to know what the real world is, let alone wants.

And also learn how to interact with people. Because, honestly, you fail hard at interacting with people and it shows throughout your CG career.
Hey man, lots of good points here.

I have thought about making a book called Mitas the Mighty with some of my Brutas ideas I never wrote. I had ideas for 5-10 more issues in my head, but never wrote further than issue 4 (because issue 1 was dragging, and the end of issue 4 was supposed to be a nice solid break where me and Donal were supposed to do another book called The Ninth Men, then return to Brutas with a 5th book starting a new story line).

Not sure though if I should do Mitas, I just don't want people to assume it's a Brutas ripoff (it wouldn't be, it would be more of a serious story, so it wouldn't really have the comedy), and not sure if it would even find an artist willing to work with me--I used to have artists hit me up daily, but since I got smeared, those same artists tell me they won't work with me now because they know I won't bring in money, and that last campaign only proved their point.

Maybe I'll write Mitas, I'll think it over.

I'm looking for a day job; I had one but... long story. And right now I haven't had much success because of the virus having most places here still shut down.

And as far as what people want to read--I recently wrote some slasher books, but I lack the funds to put them out, so I'm trying to push the books I do have as best as I can until I can afford to put out some better ones.

Since fucking when this is success? Since when collecting a microscopic fraction of fraction of comicbook readers and milking them dry for loyalty buys is a susses?

I would say making more money than others is a sign off success.

It's at least one of the pillars.

I believe you may be alluding to doing respectable work. I would agree that is another sign.

Customer loyalty is success. Zack has managed to run 4 campaigns at once and retain at least 1,000 backers on all of them. His current Jawbreakers campaign sits with 1,000 more backers than Sean Gordon Murphy’s. To paraphrase Dick Masterson “If you can find 1,000 people that are willing to support you, you’re set for the rest of your life”.

See I hate this goal post moving that Zack did about money being the main thing. You ask CG-tards if Disney Star Wars, Twilight, Adam Sendler movies are good they'll ether say "no" or "yes, but fans", but when it's CG, winning is all about money. Even though on pure money score CG (as a collective) still loses to Marvel or DC thanks to all the trademarks, royalties and the rest, but don't think about it, just buy and resist.

Bruh. Both Marvel and DC have that. They are called "collectors": people who buy long running titles and crappy merch that looks somewhat luxurious without looking into it or reading it and thous people are a genetic dead end of a customer, because they are essentially a gamble that pour money into you until they ran out or until they get bored.

Well then what is your definition of "success" if it isn't making enough money to support yourself with enough left over to continue building a brand new property that may itself one day be the new valuable trademarks, royalties and the rest?

Seriously, if that's not success then nothing is, especially considering what they started with and the risk they assumed in the endeavor. If you consider it a failure then what exactly have they lost? What would you have done instead... and why haven't you?

Nasser vs. Donal and for some reason Frog, live on Oz:

EDIT: Donal chickened out so it's just Nasser and Frog.

Is this SGM-related? I feel as though it might be SGM-related.

As a Canadian, she's likely more liberal anyway, so this might not have been directed by DC, but it does send out an unmistakable virtue signal to those who bitched about her being on Catwoman. Why else make an anonymous, CG-esque DM public?

CG is all reruns at this point. The whole narrative reached its natural conclusion with the betrayal of EVS by war campaign. All that's left is five years later “where are they now” segments.

I'm sorry, but since when has CG became all about supporting fat fags with money? The original goal was to "become an alternative" which when you get rid of the dumb fluff means building the intellectual property in terms of recognition, lore and quality. To put it next to Walking Dead, Chew, TMNT, Savage Dragon or even Birthright, not just money. None of that is happening. The writing is abismal in both quality and lore, the release schedule is nonexistent which kills all the flow and momentum. And to top it all no one is advertising their books just themselves and their fans aren't talking about their stories ether just controversies and "enemies" All that in 3 years. TMNT manged to establish the whole core cast, go through 3 major stories and have bunch of one-offs and crossovers in 3 years. And don't give me this crap about them being in a tough position, they had the best position, they were riding the anti-Marvel sentiment pretty well, they just forgot to direct that into production. Selling the same hot air about SJW for 3 years.

I mean if the goal officially changed to being a massive Reality show on YT and grabbing as much money as you can then yes this is a success, Otherwise you are not achieving what you set up to do which is a failure

I've been following this very interesting eBay auction for the past 7 days and it just ended. Looks like the entire first Cyberfrog IGG package INCLUDING a headsketch. Reserve bid started at $110 with a Buy It Now price of $176... The headsketch alone cost more than the reserve.

Zero bids. Not a good sign.

It was just relisted for another 7 days. Opening bid lowered by $1.

This is, without question, the best description of CG’s current state I’ve ever seen.

It’s one big, unscripted reality show and we’re all a bunch of basic white bitches tuning in every day for our fix.

I'm sure now that attention has been called to it the package will sell quickly. Frog doesn't like people talking about his shit not appreciating in value here on the farms.

He can always resell them to his spergs if he adds a little value like signatures or a Ribbitcoin perhaps to recoup.

I know, it took all of my willpower not to post about it until the moment it ended. I was typing the post when the seller relisted it and almost hesitated. It isn't mis-listed either, there's no way to miss it by searching any relevant Frog keyword.

I take no pleasure in this as I'm currently holding a few of both headsketches myself for speculation purposes.

People were throwing around $1000+ resale numbers for the $200 Honeycomb box packages the night those sold out in a frenzy (last week?). The first person to receive one might get a bit more than $200 but A LOT of people bought multiples hoping to flip. There are 2500 of those things.

Its apart of a bigger collapse. Allot of artists who are frankly lazy have made a career over selling original artwork at insane prices. Those days may be ending and that's bad news for some people who that's more or less their career in comics.

Did anyone finish the cabal stream? I'm not going back.

Great CG kill stream that's unbearable for the first hour or so. Oz. Stop playing gotcha with non cg people, it's not working.

-Nassar is being unreasonable in expectation of profit but he also has kindof grown up a little and realized there are no short cuts that will get him what he wants. Watching @FROG talk to him it strikes me that he's taking a different tack, wanting this to go away.

-YF denies he ever bad mouthed our boi to Pete Gilmore. Frog confirms that Tug and YF are valuable to CG, which was what I've said, they are his foothold into the weeb crowd, horrifying as that is.

-Frog leaves, satisfied that he's made CG and himself by proxy look less predatory to a young, vulnerable man. Then Wormie comes in.

-Wormie points out, rightly that CG only buys books as symbols of loyalty, not as art or out of love of them. Direct hit.

-CG is fucked as its primary defender fuckwit Reino going against Wormie and Nass. Wormie is crushing CG for good bit and Frog has to come back, with shit internet somehow in urban Jeresey?

-Wormie points out that Nass wants people to actually like his work and that Frog's message is that he can get access to the CG audience, but that audience has little if any interest in Nass work as art, instead being unappreciative of its merits viewing it as tribal sport.

-Frog scores a solid hit on Wormie. Wormie was fortunate enough that someone else gave him a shot and that's all Frog is doing is promoting others work. He asks will Wormie and he says no. Big points for Frog.

-Wormie tries to recover claiming he's made his own way, bullshit, and that he's just that good, somewhat true. He rightfully points out that Frog is giving kids the illusion of a shortcut.

-Frustratingly, Frog does not point out to Wormie the biggest argument in support of CG. The world that Frog and Wormie succeed in is very different from today. Wormie could succeed as a born again white republican in the 90s. Today those traditional paths are foreclosed. Frog doesn't really hit him successfully here well, he kindof points at DC and Marvel not being those places. But the crux is mentorship and opportunity for artistic people outside the mold. Wormie endorses a Randian path were struggle is how art talent evolves whereas Frog pushes for art needing the support of the unwashed masses who don't appreciate it in order for art talent to be able to develop.

Fools.

Ethan could run a campaign for genuine CyberTurds and these cultists would mortgage their houses to be on the ground floor buying frog shit.

Frog's CG is a cult of personality no different than Tom Cruise or John Travolta. Just look at the difference between EVS's campaign and the rest of those boot lickers.

Out side of Yah Boi, the next big named "CG" guy is Malin but he's 20th on the list. So :achievement: to Doug pointing out that Frog is a "short cut" to fame.

If I was Doug T (Wormie) *uno reverse card* Frog's point by pointing out the whole Stealing Solo debacle being on Frog's head because HE said the Jeff's art was Joe Quesada level and HE supported Mitch's Red Rooster for the longest of times despite Mitch back stabbing backers. He promoted both those train wrecks and I've got my  ready when Cecil's book fails to deliver due to Cuck Prince Delay's fingers falling off from Diabetes.

As much as I would like Nasser and Doug T to NOT interact with Frog. The indie pond is the only thing that protects creators against twitter mobs and that Whisper Campaign thing that has popped up.

Are those final sales to end customers or the sales forced on comic shops by the publishers which then sat on their shelves unsold to end customers? There's a very big difference.

If it was the bestest year ever why did so many comics shops go broke?

The chart she's citing is Brian Hibbs. She omits him stating that in 2019

"For what it is worth, overall book [only] sales through Diamond are down 2%."

To get to that number he's including Manga, MHA, and Scholastic, Dogman.
