I never once called him untalented, I took issue with multiple people calling him "legendary" and that's why DC pays him, not because he designed characters that ended up in video games etc.
Like it or not, he's influential. That character from that video game was in a comic book he drew. He's a legend DC wishes they could forget. I'm sure management wishes those thirteen/fourteen books he did with Geoff Johns were drawn by Gary Frank, David Finch, or Jim Lee.
Man, he drew a cringe character that a writer made him for one whole issue? Whoah, I guess that means all the wild composition and unique ways to play with panels does not matter?
And no one else has ever done wild composition and unique panel design (which was janky and made the story harder to understand at times.).

Or the fact he kept his style Fresh by changing it for Season two with art that looks like it came straight out of Heavy Metal when the issues demanded it.

Those would be the two biggest reasons I think he's definitely one of if not the best.
Not the best. Not even close...
Nice to know you pirate your comics there. Good cherry pick. I don't like the stories, but in terms of storytelling, Neal Adams is king. The covers for that series, the way he drew the characters and the angles and methods he used. You talk about paneling and all that. Those are things Jim Steranko and Neal Adams revolutionized.
Ask Liam Sharpe if he's cribed from Neal Adams.
I'm reading through the Venditti GL run right now which features a lot of
@FROG work. Here's the deal, EVS frequently has weird hinky poses and his anatomy is not always correct but his work has a style and soul to it. These are comics, they aren't photorealism, as long as the art does not take away from the story, it's successful. I love that I can instantly identify work by EVS. That's part of what makes comics fun. I like to think of it like the difference between rock and roll and classical music. Comics are rock and roll and EVS is a killer lead guitarist.
That's....I hate that. It's such a cop out. "It's like punk music man." No, comic book artwork is not music, but anyone who actually can play guitar would point out there is a right way to play it.
Anatomy doesn't have to be perfect because this isn't a painted portrait. It's okay to like a style. I like Rob Liefeld, kindof. In small doses. Ethan's problem is he started out with a clearly cartoonist style with Image influence and then developed a more realistic style.
Someone mentioned Greg Capullo earlier. He's drawn differently and at one point he'd became a McFarlane clone for a while. Good Artists evolve and they have a technique. Watch Ethan's videos on drawing.
they are most likely drawing more than one book per year,
Yet they have hours to post on twitter, host drink and draw streams, and many have YouTube shows and go to conventions....
and they definitely don't want to sell their souls to become outrage peddlers incessantly bitching about Star Wars chasing after CPM or making hours of non-content reading super chats and grumbling with the most boring 40 year old men.
Selling souls is a bit much. I mean, you kindof have to sell your soul to the woke gods
TM to get work at DC and Marvel.
If Quarter Pounder can do it and "people" like Sargon then anyone can, that kind of support is hollow at best.
Yet, despite him being transparent greedy, thin skinned, and boring, they keep supporting him.
I agree the key to his success has very little to nothing to do with the product and instead is on his cult of personality and EVS monetizing his cultural war grievance's very well.
So be the bestest artist evah that no one reads? Gotcha.
The comic industry is the story of countless talented artists who died poor and in obscurity. I don't think it's the burn you think it is to point to guys like Bill Finger or Jerry Siegel and say "Hey they didn't sell out by pandering to the masses" or whatever.
Hey, Siegal's great grandkids may eventually see a Man of Steel royalty check!
You don't have to tell me, I am just stating realistically why they don't and why grifters do, because they have nothing better to do or create than daily non-content that gets spit out to people thanks to algorithms and they don't aspire to do really anything more than that.
I wish creative people or people that pushed humanity forward always got rewarded for it but sadly the times are not always that nice. Nikola Tesla died poor and e-thots are rewarded big time, c'est la vie, but let's not delude ourselves on what people's "success" is really based on.
Putting funny book artists with Nicky Tesla may be a bit much.
And you're an A-logging faggot.
Huh?
Just because you're not quite as retarded as Absurdity doesn't mean you're off the hook.
The fact I can go months without posting here while you need to have regular contact with EVS says plenty.
Eww, no thanks. I don't go behind Pizza Parlors like a certain glorious leader.
I come here because this is entertainment and Ethan has been boring. Go back to your CG hug box faggot.
What makes it funnier is that every time I see your posts, I only hear Starscream's whiny voice.
Wasn't Starscream always betraying his leader? Is Starscreams Cape Warcampaign?
