i think the point is that Zack has made a career out of shitting on people’s bad art so, for him come out with something like this is hypocrisy at it’s finest. Really, he should have been called out on it with Iron Sights 1 because the art in that book sucked ass too.

Like when one can objectively say that Erica Henderson’s run on Squirrel Girl had better art than your book, there is a problem.

YBZ has not really ever had the best taste in comics and movies. His art critiques are often hypercritical and the equivalent of She Has Sharp Knees.

I am not going to shit on the art style, the video game Another World has a very similar art style and it has been a very influential piece of media.

Even Another Worlds aliens chose a shape and stuck to it. If there's a favorable comparison to that game, it's the color and shading, not the line art. Looking past the latter trying really damn hard to look past the latter I like the shading a lot. It looks natural and intuitive in a minimalist way. If he found someone to force him to draw humans, not gumbies, or give him someone elses ligne claire art to work on, he could make it look really good.

I remember when YBZ was still on twitter, during the first Jawbreakers IGG, & he kept tweeting about "my fellow professionals" & how he was all about customer service & "selling hotdogs." If someone asks "When is my hotdog going to be ready?", & you tell them, "I update all the orders at the top of the hour," you're not doing it right.

When Expendables launched, sweetcast did a video wondering if it'd be a million dollar campaign; now it's limping to the finish line. But hey, did Zach tell you he's got an idea for yet another paramilitary team book...? He's so excited about it, & it's gonna be great.....

If he found someone to force him to draw humans, not gumbies, or give him someone elses ligne claire art to work on, he could make it look really good.

Narwhal has the potential to be a decent layout artist for a more detail oriented finisher if he took the time to make sure his figures were in proportion and perspective but this work is slap dash and low effort by the look of it.

If he was dumping these pages on the net as a webcomic at several pages a week I'd have no problem with what he's doing but this is being presented as a quality complete story with finished art and it appears to be nothing of the sort.

That said if he was doing layouts for render heavy artists who tend to draw stiff figures I think he'd have something valuable to contribute.

Having given him a try with the first part of Earthbound I do believe he's got some talent but he's to lazy to do the work of actually finishing his drawings and he's pawning it off as "style".

Canales was doing the best he could with the crude tools he has while Narwhal is pulling it out of the oven after 5 minutes and telling everyone it's a fully baked cake.

A lot of thought provoking content recently. Hate to ruin it!

We use the same simple analogies over and over again. The mainstream comic book industry is Big Fast Food. They've been taken over by dirty hippies. The dirty hippies have replaced all beef patties with soy patties, and they're cursing out customers who complain.

This has offered us an opportunity to open a hot dog stand. We don't have the resources of Burger King, or the ability to franchise out, mass produce, etc. Not yet. But we can make a product that people will like, while being respectful of our customers.

Does the hot dog vendor give a fuck about "saving Burger King?" Does he have the ability to destroy the lecturing scolds that have ruined The Whopper and their culture?

No. But it's an alternative, and perhaps from such humble roots, great things can eventually grow.

In the meantime, I'd tell people not to suffer the Soy Whopper or support and patronize companies that would mistreat them, and that advice is the very least we can offer them.

There is no "we", it's all you. "Dirty hippie", like "conservative" has no meaning coming from your lips either. "Most of my friends think I'm liberal." Now I think your "friends" were onto something!

One of the other taglines you kept putting out there was that joining CG included "all the benefits" that came with working for the big guys. You've shown you don't have a clue on how to develop talent, it's more about the extra boost in sales you could give fellow industry pros who, like you, were too timid to strike out on their own. Though you have had to foot some of the bill as far as production costs go, it's more of an indication that the "movement" is falling apart than it speaks to your generosity out of necessity.

And it needs to be said that you could have crowdfunded easily without a huge Youtube following because you were already a well established figure in the industry. You wouldn't have made quite so much, but you could have done it. Meyer on the other hand completely needed it and it was his success not yours, which was a more accurate gauge of what Youtube promotion could do on its own. The problem is only now becoming obvious: Richard C Meyer is a deeply damaged human being and he's simply not set up for this kind of profession, especially one that needs to deal with the public on a regular basis. I can't blame him for overshooting. He got farther than 99% of indy comic creators but it's over and he should move on.

You made sure that in addition to appropriating the CG movement under your name, your particular way of cluttering Social Media with "marketing" became obligatory. What it really was, was shit-talking for hours a day to bring in the paypiggies in at the cost of integrity, civility and stability. YBZ never had to tard wrangle, I wonder what the difference was? Your Bumpus hounds will keep bringing you Christmas turkey straight from the oven as long as you keep breeding them. Sure, it's funny for awhile but you gotta keep revolving stock before they get wise to you.

The reason why "respecting customers" doesn't work in your case for anything outside of materials used is due to your lack of principles. There's nothing to unite over except your brand which is all about you because Cyberfrog is a self-insert. Everyone is capable of being placed on the chopping block because the minute you feel slighted is when you go purging... and that brings us right back to the SJW Marvel tactics. It's not different because you really stand for anything different, it's only by circumstance that you're not as ridiculous and inept as they are. How many "paying customers" of yours held views closer to one of your past associates but because you had to attack everything they stood for in addition to any personal slight, you effectively disrespected them at the same time? Your career is turning out to be one long series of funhouse mirrors.

That's a fair broad view of ComicsGate. Making "comics" possible for everyone, as they should be, comes with a whole series of negative consequences. It's the Wild West out here. There are bad comics and bad actors. Having an absolute rule that The Customer Is Always Right leads to abuses like War Campaign, which eventually leads to purity testing and gatekeeping. In my opinion, most of these problems will burn themselves out. Terrible comics won't get funded. Only sharing my platform with those who I'm in business with will lead to less gay ops and fighting.

All I can do is worry about my own publishing concerns. I'd like to publish more and better comics. I can personally only produce a limited amount of work with my own hands, so I'm publishing other creators, like Matt, Trent and Kyle, and creating more CYBERFROG related product with the best talent I can find.

There's no such thing as "winning the culture war" unless radical leftists are reviled the way Nazis are, and their influence is no longer tolerated in society. Asking me to either present a plan to do that or to GTFO isn't reasonable. My only goal is to live and work without their interference, and that is, at least, fighting the culture war.

Making comics has already been possible for anyone able to put together a crowdfunding campaign for years now. You were only promising an upgrade in revenue made for creators and the quality of the product itself, which really defaults back to your initial notoriety and your ability to make comics in the first place. You seem to be cognizant of that fact and that's why you have been trying to bring in more proven professionals to your side of the pond. The challenge for anyone joining you will be the dwindling returns and the prospect of parting ways in the most acrimonious fashion possible. That's how the real Ethan Van Sciver brand is looking to me. As EVS goes, so does "CG".

Richard Meyer was never really based from what I've seen. He was a goofy semi-likable comics nerd spouting off about shit that was pissing a lot of people off in the right place (YouTube) at the right time (2016-2017) which led to viral popularity he managed to cash in on so he could make his mediocre comics.

There's nothing really wrong with Meyer. He just doesn't live up to his Christ (or maybe Moses) figure rep with the ComicsGate set. They're all pissed off he isn't leading them to the promised land and he just wants to get out his Etsy level writing like any other wannabe comics writer. When I first saw his videos I said to myself, "What the fuck is happening at Marvel? And why is this goof broadcasting from a closet." I never thought he'd be anything special as a writer just because he was mostly right in his criticism of lazy fuck writers like Slott and Simone.

Good for him that he managed to use viral video fame to make his dream come true though. It's a testament to his YouTube sperg whisperer powers that some still follow him given the fact that his channel is staler than a cracker under the couch and his comics are the epitome of "meh".

The best thing Meyer has managed to do in comics was replacing Malin with much better talent on Godking. Other than that he's managed nothing of note artistically.

Yes. It's been a spiral like this since he couldn't handle the concern trolling from the industry over the Dark Roast. He's invested too much in wanting people -- all people, including commies who are not actually people -- to like him and can't accept that they are deranged weirdos who will just hate no matter what because of his identity.

It sounds like Doug TenNapel had two community guidelines strikes on his channel from January, which essentially means that until April, he was perpetually in danger of losing his channel. It's possible that he got nuked for dodging his livestream banning on one channel by livestreaming on another of his channels. That's against the rules.

It sucks, but if you've got two strikes, you've gotta go into bunker mode for three months if you want to survive.
