There's a market for Trump books, even if you don't like Trump or Trump fiction. I personally didn't and wouldn't buy them, but somebody would. Plus it's not like Tim could get it past a lot of publishers that SJW's have already dug their hooks into. Nothing in a Trump book should conflict with CG's goals. A Trump comic book gaining traction is a win against SJW gatekeeping.

I'm interested in monitoring how Lim does vs. CG-branded creators moving forward. Unless he epically fucks up somewhere, I think he might be poised to knock FROG off his pedestal one day.

The bunny is building a brand and growing his audience book by book. He's more Brian Pulido than CG. And like Pulido, all he has to do is keep delivering and keep growing, and eventually he'll surpass what Frog is doing, at least as far as customers. He probably won't milk his cows with repackaged versions of the same single book he started with for 3 years, and his audience is probably to smart to fall for that kind of BS anyway.

Frog milks his base like a pro. And they're all too dumb to recognize it.

i mean he’ll still get his books funded but, he’s never going to have the fanbase he once had aside from those hardcore dickriders. I mean, when everyone one of his books is late and they come out looking like the exact same thing he rails against in all of his videos, even those hardcores will start getting tired of it. But let's just get this out of the way, it's impossible to keep all politics out of play if that's what truly resonates with you. It might not be a book on Trump, but it will find it's way into the story if you believe it strongly enough. And that should be okay. The only thing Ethan seems to really treasure is loyalty which might as well be an unattainable thing that only a magic power like drawing purty pictures can temporarily grant. The problem he had with Tim was really just projecting an insecurity over someone he could not control as far as I'm concerned.

I agree. What's considered "no politics" is incredibly subjective. Even Cyberfrog isn't devoid of values and sentiment expressed by the author, which when taken from the individual to the social level are inherently political. Anyone who seriously argues for "removing all politics from x" is just operating from the position that what they consider "normal" is the objective normal and is either dangerously stupid or dangerously disingenuous. A more solid footing would be to say: people don't want trash no matter what ideological flag it's wrapped up in, but should be free to make whatever they want without interference.

That said, the Tim Lim business was all in the wake of Vox Day and his own attempt to steer it toward a radical political movement. Asking comic book fans and career professionals to go from "My copy of Amazing Spider-Man is shit because of woke editorial" to asking them to rally behind Vox Day and Alt-Hero, a comic about a European heroine who fights rapefugees while he made moves to trademark "Comicsgate" for himself was a step too far. That situation, combined with Meyer's idiotic thesis of "no politics!", created a demand for "no politics" that couldn't be ignored and here we are.

But that's just it: you can't separate out that money to every decision Ethan's made regarding his brand post DC. He spouts off on how much he knows what customers want, but if he really did know then how could Reignbow (it's going to be bigger than Cyberfrog!) underperform? The single biggest factor in my mind is that he's been coasting on his salad days as a major comic book artist for the biggest comic book characters in the world. The farther he drifts away from that on these one note characters of his, the more disappointments are to be expected.

Sure I could be wrong, but this is why people don't learn the most from their successes. Proud people never learn. What did he learn about RB?

Lim has much more of that ability to crank out product like an actual comic book artist is supposed to do and therefore has a bigger chance to really develop his ideas much further. It may not make him richer in comparison to Ethan, but if he can make a decent living off it and can do it without all the other nonsense, he'll be far more respectable for it. There's already enough here that I don't think anybody needs to worry about where he'll be in the next few years. So as of this moment, they can't really do any damage to each other anyway.

At this point I'm all about dissecting the agitprop and the revisionist history coming out of our comic saviors.

Vox was a problem, but that goes back to how lazy Ethan was in researching whom he chose to associate with. Vox has been around a very long time. He's internet infamous. Ethan is a larper, he had no idea what Vox writes about on a regular basis and it's not like Vox didn't run an active blog or had a gigantic trail of juicy passages to tell you exactly where he stood. That's what you get when you model your show after a cross between IBS and Howard Stern then check in with your gayops unit or Kiwi Farms to find the goods on someone.

He also could just as easily have said "I don't believe in this, I don't believe in that, and I don't want to be associated with you" except actually standing for something on principle is probably the hardest thing you could ever ask of Ethan. The principle of having no principles doesn't count!

Interesting. I'd been led by certain CG pros to believe that KS considered non-lefty creators personae non gratae and that using both platforms for one campaign would possibly confuse your audience and you'd make less money in the long run.

While Frog's motives for denouncing Lim's Trump comics as not CG are debatable, I think it's been established that Vox Day's incredibly shortsighted actions in trying to put himself and his political messaging in the forefront of a revolt of Marvel-DC fans had left an easily exploitable reaction to any political expression in CG 2018.

Suffice it to say, KA2 beat out Xenotype. KA3 did even better.

Anyways, my point is that if you compare KA to Jawbreakers, Lim isn't quite there yet. However, to be fair, Zach isn't there anymore either. Right now, watching Tim is like watching a race car move up through the pack at a pretty good clip.

It doesn't matter that he had little means to stop Lim from doing what he wanted to do. What matters is that FROG didn't want CG to go in that direction, and Lim was shunned from a movement that is supposed to allow greater creator freedom.

My motives were, "I'm collecting blacklisted mainstream creators and trying to get them to create new stuff, so that we can fund campaigns as a group. Chuck Dixon should be with us. What is he doing making exploitation comics? Waste of his energy."
