man they are coming for Lopresti big time! I mean what the hell, he was on Ethan‘s stream before promoting Garbage Man and he got no flak when it didn’t fund but, now that he knocked it out of the ball park it’s a big problem.
 
Aaron's got a great looking project now. It's the original GHOST RIDER vs. Werewolves. People who see it want to buy it.

SJW comic pros do themselves no favors by revealing themselves to a seasoned pro like Lopresti. Look, the work is drying up for everyone, and he's not exactly the kind of guy who cares about social circles. Seeing "his friends" for who they are is a great way to make this guy actual ComicsGate thru and thru.

I'm not sure why this is happening now, though. Renfamous started it, I think, probably on behalf of one of Lopresti's former collaborators.

Damn. They're really kicking out the jams. "Hate group," "misogynists," "that handmaiden to the Taliban known as IndieGoGo" (okay I made that one up), etc. They basically seem to be talking to themselves, though.

The most amusing thing being that I had to dust off my back up Twitter account to see much of anything. Haven't felt so mass blocked since the height of GooberGrape in 2015 or so.

If you really want to piss off this crew, you should get Lopresti to re-do his (apparently) failed past campaign and get THAT funded. That'll REALLY get their panties in a bunch.

It's great. I am backing this. Aaron is one of my favorite artists. Not only that but the dude is one of the nicest guys out there, never starts trouble with anyone, picking on him is a horrible optic for them, but they are deranged.

creator’s have been cheated out of their characters before or offered bum deals that they signed on to without thinking. Look what happened to Jim Starlin, Marvel made a mint off of Thanos in the Avengers movies and offered him ”an unsatisfactory amount“ according to what he said.

Meyer took some time out of his busy day of mowing his lawn and "seeking inner peace" to sperg at this screencap of Ron Marz retweeting a quote of Heidi McDonald relating comic book shop owner/semi-official industry statistician Brian Hibbs saying 2020 was one of the strongest years for comics ever according to data received from BookScan. In a bit of synchronicity that I did not know, Brian Hibbs was actually the person who bought Nerdrotic's mythical comic book shop he owned once. Meyer describes Hibbs as "basically the comic book guy from the simpsons" and everything he writes "is like ten thousand words" and takes forever to get the point, all those words Hibbs writes relating to the comic book industry makey Simple Zack brain hurty. Please keep your findings in bite-sized tweet form for Richie.

Brian Hibbs says the BookScan numbers paint a positive picture, but if that's so why is the direct market doing so bad? Proof the direct market is bad - Brian Hibbs shut down his second comic book shop because his employees quit and he couldn't train new ones. That makes no sense in a growing market, therefore the logical conclusion is that Brian Hibbs is a liar, peddling propaganda for no other reason then to gaslight the haters.
  1. BookScan tracks all book sales in the United States except the direct market aka Diamond distribution sales figures (the two are combined to compile the annual Comichron reports). The stats Hibbs posted are irrelevant concerning the health of a local comic book shop, a detail Hibbs mentions in his report that was too long for Meyer to read.
  2. Brian Hibbs suffered a major heart attack in March 2020. Might this have effected his decision on choosing to shut down a secondary comic shop instead of retraining a full staff? No. The only reason he could have shut it down was because of declining sales.

The FNT vs CG slap fight is infinitely more interesting. It's another in the beautiful circle of life of Gate movements.

Hibbs and Gary got crossways, going off my memory, because Gary was CG/FM adjacent. Before that they were...colleagues? who spoke and got along. Gary owned that shop until his drug relapse I believe.

It's interesting to see how the cancel culture discourse fairs in 2021. As some have reminisced it is feeling like 2017-18 again, however with much less of an attention span now.

I think it would be relevant to compare Aaron Lopresti's launch and attempted cancellation to Dale Keown's

Both talented veterans of the industry and both have made appearances on Frog's channel.

Big difference here is from what I can tell Keown has no presence on twitter, or his own account. Keown's output seems limited to Frogwork which is fine, but would love to hear more about a potential Pitt collection, or new book please.

Aaron does maintain a twitter and is launching an original book. This morning he seems to have fed the trolls to an extent.

To Aaron I'd only say you're over 400 backers and almost $35,000 you don't owe anyone anything except a good book.

I cannot provide any screencaps of Keown responding to twitter critics. Which I think is the answer.

The solution to "Cancel Culture" could be to completely ignore attempted cancellations. The average attention span of a twitter sjw is maybe 5 days. Not saying everyone can or should get off twitter as Rock and Roll Richard says, but almost no interaction you can have with a sjw on their platform is going to benefit you in any capacity. They're not going to buy your book because they are poor and You're not going to change their mind. Most people backing your book just laugh at the SJWs and their cause at this point.

As for Mrs. Lopresti, are we witnessing the birth of a new Warcampaign? A social media presence dedicated to defending a comic book artist from their twitter critics?
