Comparing Backers to Diamond Orders from June 2021 the Top 100 Comicgate Books for 2021 has as many backers as orders for "Something is Killing the Children"
And when I go into my comic shop I will find 20 or more copies of "Something is Killing the Children" collecting dust on the shelves.

Well well well... seems that inclusion and diversity jobs have dried up after all.

Anything lulzy happen recently?
Besides @PocketJacks' two lawsuits against @FROG?
Nothing earthshattering.

Sadly no. However, the Fandom Menace has some spergery.

* There has been a long simmering Cold War between the Fandom Menace and Comicsgate due to Ethan calling Jeremy out for being a cuck and then following that up by calling Gary's co-hosts nobodies. This led to a great deal of butthurt from British Cecil and all concerned. At the same time, Jessi led a revolt of FM/CG ladies against Tom Conners in a very lame MeToo stream that fell the fuck apart because their poster child was MechaRandom.

* Jessi Milestone and Jeff of WCB got kicked out of a Gary Beakler hosted Fandom Menace party in Vegas. By his wife. Jessi, beautiful angel she is apparently caused a scene? leading to Gary having to sack up and actually engage with her and her giant boyfriend Jeff. Gary proceeded to pretend it didn't happen after a livestream he privated, while Frog and Shane Davis discussed it with the "HC", nowadays Jeff and whoever can stand Jessi.

* The resulting tension between Comicsgate and Fandom Menace has led to some much needed waking up that maybe Gary and the FNT crew kindof suck. The peak being a video by DWD about a pay piggies that puts CG's monied swine to shame.

Dale immediately backed down like a bitch. But it was a glorious video all the same.

And when I go into my comic shop I will find 20 or more copies of "Something is Killing the Children" collecting dust on the shelves.

I just bought the first three tpbs on eBay. They're enjoyable. Also got Tynion's Nice House on a Lake or whatever it's called.

His pacing is slooooooow. But I'm interested enough in the mystery to keep reading.

i was watching the bbc show with Gary, Az and Mauler... I still have no idea how these people are fighting the culture war. They give Marvel/DC/Disney the most money. Showing of all the dvd's, blu rays, comics and toys.... It was nice to see George giving money again tho. I guess he's not doing it just on fridays.

So the grifters finally started turning on each other? It was inevitable. A similar thing happened with GaymerGate with both the pros and antis.

The novelty is wearing out. The CG challenge is not whether you can get a book published outside the big two. There's no bully SJW force to play against when you're self publishing and/or crowdfunding. The real competition for CG ought to be how to make comics that equal or surpass the best of the mainstream classics from anytime prior to 2012. Obviously they'll never compete with how fast the big two could crank them out.

* As a result of appearing with Ethan and company, Aaron got swarmed. Ethan then brought him on for a circle jerk/cry-a-thon.
Favorite quote from the frogservative:

"Yeah why don't they do more homosexual things with Northstar. They don't do enough."

Spoken like a true conservative with family values! I'm gonna go out on a limb and say superhomos are intrinsically unheroic.

Homosexuality in comics is a cheap progressive virtue signal and it absolutely dominates whatever it was that character was supposed to represent along with any powers they might have had. No significant portion of the population wants to see gay men flirt in a comic book. If you take it too far the other way, you get a Preston Poulter lesbo-erotic man-negging snorefest. Regular hetero relationships allow the characters to maintain their value as heroes with the added bonus of potential offspring that can add depth to the lore. Homos are one and done and after their progressive sheen wears off, it's onto the next trend. Northstar was a C-level property before & after he was gay but because gay doesn't mean anything other than getting your rocks off, you can't develop it. You can tolerate it, but any attempt to normalize it is comedic or tedious.

There will never be a Fantastic Faggot Four that sells to mainstream audiences. But if anyone could sell it to 1-2k people, it might be Ethan.

It is a loss of confidence in the crowdfunding system. At least for me it is. There are quite a few creators whose campaigns I’ve backed before that I will not back again because they are either super late on their fulfilment or the book just flat out sucked. But, I guess that’s the risk you take when you support a crowdfunded project.
Same for me. I'll refer back to this post I made on this topic a couple of months ago:
Figured I'd chime in here on the whole decline of CG that's being discussed, as I am probably the thread's resident retard who has backed too many CG campaigns. Using myself as a small case study, I can say that I'm spending far less money and backing far fewer campaigns than I have since I starting backing. I've been following CG since 2018. Started backing campaigns in 2019 and backed a few dozen or so. That number effectively doubled in 2020. I'll just say that for 2021, I am on track to back fewer campaigns than I did in 2019.

The cause for this drop-off is primarily the quality of the books I'm receiving. Late books with no updates are pretty annoying as well, but my major issue is how embarrassingly awful the average CG book is. I've basically been decrying such books as Magic Cop and College of the Dead since I entered this thread, but those are a mere drop in the bucket of atrocious CG books. This widespread issue has made me far more hesitant to back new and unproven creators. So, as far as a "community" goes, the incompetent fucks are harming the newcomers pretty severely in my eyes. This problem is not exclusive to CG creators who had no professional career in comics, by the way. I recently read Florida Man by industry vet Mike Baron. Fucking abysmal. I also haven't been at all impressed with Mark Poulton's writing in Graveyard Shift or SeaDog and Codename: Killswitch. Not as bad as some, but certainly not what I'd consider good writing.

So, these days I'm mostly backing books by creators that have proven themselves before or those who can manage to wow me with their campaign page. Whether it's the art, concept, or what have you. I'm essentially done backing books that look so-so just for the sake of the movement and I'm certainly done giving talentless creators second chances. Bring your best on your first showing or go the fuck home. Oh and hire some goddamn editors and get people more intelligent than yourself to look through your books. Another thing that CG has a major issue with is the unwillingness to tell people that their work isn't good. Ethan is the occasional exception to this, as we saw with Wenger's Aldrake. But there really isn't much of a quality check when it comes to CG books. I understand it, as it's uncomfortable to tell someone that they're not good at what they're doing. But it really does spit in the face of the idea that CG is trying to make anything that's "better" than what the mainstream is putting out. Vita Ayala is unironically a better writer than most in CG. I wish I was joking.
The average CG book is just not good at all. Honestly I'm happy that Ethan's circle now has more established pros like Dale Keown and Graham Nolan, and therefore less incompetent morons like Micah Curtis and Antonio Brice. This should ideally lead to an overall increase in quality from the higher profile books in CG, at the very least.

Ban Ethan!

But, in all seriousness, I'm glad he's doing well. Might cut back in the drama a bit, but considering that Superman's a faggot now, a bit of drama is warranted. Unless it degrades into a turbotism slugfest, that'll make more bank than the big two combined.

Hey, that's an idea. A long awaited MMA tournament a la celebrity wrestling where Rob Liefeld would beat the tar out of MacFarlane.

Those trades are sold out at several shops in my area. I have only read the first issue, but it was interesting enough for me to want to check them out. Tynion is a legitimate talent when he's not doing gay shit like that book Wynd.

The High Council isn't riding very high these days. Tonight it's just Jeff and the other Midnight's Edge guy. Same thing will happen with Friday Night Tights in time. None of these people produce anything. It's gets boring.

I might not be the biggest @FROG fan but at least the dude is out there with something to sell.

I’ll have too check that book out myself on ComiXology since I am hearing good things about It From people on this board. Plus, they have the bulk of the series in three volumes so I can binge it!

McFarlane is the type of guy that would become an MMA expert in 3 months by training superhero for the event, while Liefeld would spend all day ragging him on Twitter.
Maybe Jim Lee will come in completely silent and kick their ass with his martial art knowledge he talks about, or some gym rat like Cappulo or Panosian will dominate them

So I did a stream yesterday poking fun at Smiller and reading the discord messages @Rupin posted. I also read some other posts on here, including Edwin's deranged posts about CG failing.
smillerworld2.jpg
Edwin shows up in the chat and asks for a cancellation of his order for Secret Comics Presents. At first I thought he meant refund, but he says "Don't refund it just don't give me the book."

I invited him on the stream to discuss his KiwiFarms posts but he never said anything, so I assumed he stopped watching the stream.

Today I got a message from him through Indiegogo:

To which I replied that I didn't know what he was talking about. Because I really don't. Edwin, there is nothing in the IGG "Consumer Privacy requirements" about reading your KiwiFarms posts on my YouTube channel. What's funnier is that you think Indiegogo is gonna care. If you don't want people to read your KiwiFarms posts then don't post on KiwiFarms.

Edwin, I'm a guy self publishing in his parents' basement. You're a creepy old man who has done nothing with his life. I understand it's easy to be jealous but this is weird. My stream is staying up completely unedited. Get over it, bruh. I can't even imagine what you would tell Indiegogo. It would literally have to be something like: "I publicly requested this guy not ship my books because he read my KiwiFarms posts. This is a violation of Consumer Privacy."

EDIT: typos

Sounds like Edwin is back on the sauce or meth or whatever it is he takes.

Praying for your quick recovery Edwin. Addiction is hell.

That’s a pretty bitch move trying take down Nasser’s campaign like that, @EGB. Get some help and get off the meth.

@EGB, I recall you at the inception of ComicsGate, when you were very much the calm voice of moderation, and a thoroughly likeable chap to boot; the kind of steady hand at the tiller who would confidently steer a storm-tossed ship between hidden reefs. I had a massive amount of respect for you. Which is why I find it so hard to reconcile that Edwin with the bitter and hate-filled person, who periodically washes up as flotsam on the shores of this thread to bitch about former allies and pick at old wounds.

This thread is alive with analysis of ComicsGate, much of which goes way beyond attempts at pushing together two circles, one labelled 'fat' and the other labelled 'gay', to create an accurate Venn diagram of Ethan Van Sciver. Most criticism here is delivered with the amused detachment of people who have other things going on in their lives. When Mister Dongs is not engaged in one of his deep dives, he has his vast collection of dongs to amuse him, each one more girthy and vascular than the last. With you, it seems like there is a personal investment in ComicsGate failing, as if you would somehow be vindicated if it were to all come crashing down, and would perhaps even take pleasure from watching it fall apart. Your posts here are can be summarised as catty asides, premature celebrations of impending failure, and attempts to place obstacles in the path of individuals who have moved on from what ComicGate was when you were involved, and who have also moved on from you.

What you are doing is (I believe) intended to hurt individuals who you feel have wronged you in some way. Ultimately, it's self destructive. You are arguing with words against people who are living well through their actions, and who are likely to continue to do so regardless of what you think and feel.

Anybody with a modicum of common-sense would agree that crowdfunding is a symptom of an industry on the ropes, scrambling to evolve into a new form that will be profitable in a chaotic and divided world. What we have at present are shifting sands that have yet to assume a final stable form. That is why people like Ethan are continuously modifying the way in which they create and sell their comics and associated products. It's a business model in progress - a road to future success.

Ethan is currently sitting on raised throne in the window of an ice-cream parlour, dining on a cornucopia of different flavours from a glass dish the size of a canoe, while sparklers fizzle and a pair of guardian Oompa-Loompas, dressed in slave Leia costumes, stand poised to ladle chocolate sauce upon request. You are sitting at a small table nearby, with a paltry single scoop of vanilla, throwing scraps of wafer at him, as melting ice-cream dribbles through the hole that you gnawed in the bottom of your limp cone.

This potentially ends with you parading up and down outside your local comic shop, wearing a sandwich board that reads 'Repent ComicsGaters', while a life-size statue of CyberFrog glowers at you from behind the plate glass window.

As an atheist by default, I never thought that I would say this to anyone, but I am worried about your soul.
