Common Side Effects - A Cartoon Network original

Is King of the Hill really so popular it would be the first thing people think about when the think of Mike Judge (even before Beavis and Butthead)?
King of the Hill was a network show that ran for over a decade. It was made to have mass appeal.

Beavis and Butthead was a controversy magnet and made a big cultural impact, but it's inseparable from MTV when thinking about it. It was made for a targeted audience.

Amongst a certain age group, it's probably Beavis and Butthead, but for the general public it's probably King of the Hill.

I thought of Idiocracy and Office Space. And then Beavis and Butthead.

This looks really good. I'm happy to see an animated show that's a little dry. Drama in animated shows seems pretty rare these days, too. The premise of a radical trying to protect a miracle drug while romancing an old flame that works for a pharmaceutical company is great creative fodder and I want to see what they do with it. Can't wait for it to be canceled after 6 episodes. I'm calling it now that the miracle drug is revealed in the last episode to be something silly like "mother's love".

EDIT: This is one of the co-creator's Wikipedia page. Holy based.

False alarm, different Joe Bennett. I will continue to pretend that this one is an anti-semite, though.

king shit, flew too close to the sun

I thought this thread was gonna be about side effects with meds.

Like the BS when a person takes meds but all they get is the side effects.

I watched the first two episodes. Its really good. I wouldn't be surprised if it was not originally written to be a cartoon, it works very well as a cartoon though. the Large headed people in a serious drama are good and it has a hint of that one big top burgers guy style, but it really pauses for pretty shots when it needs too.
I'm more conspiratorial though so maybe its just for me, but so far I've like every minute of it. Klaus Schwab is practically the villian. And I like the protagonist they did bad ass hippie that was still a dork well. Sometimes his voice reminds me of Frank from China IL too but it might just be the weird face.

Pretty good show, definitely would have been immediately rejected if it were pitched in the 2000s or 2010s. Also (((They))) haha.
First episode brings up the Oklahoma City Bombing and Waco in passing if you're still on the fence. Oklahoma in particular is still a shady and intriguing case.

So far I've been really impressed with the show! It's got a lot of moving parts, but still feels quite comfortable. Plus each episode has gotten a genuine chuckle or two out of us. I really love what they are doing with conspiratorial aspects and the different "factions". Hopefully it doesn't drop the ball, but I have high hopes.
