today, is, fo, li, vn, md, and ph are all the same (the main one people here have been using, and the one involved in the Brave situation). Notably, .vn (Vietnam) is very expensive to register if you don't live there. Maybe he found a reseller, but I still wonder what the point was. I'm not sure what the point of the whole thing is since they seem to point to the same IP address and who even relies on DNS filtering?

.org is the Internet Archive / Wayback Machine
He's had issues in the past with the domains being yanked underneath him. So he has a bunch now so even if he loses several domains people can still use the site.

Edit: For the people who say we need a thread on this, https://kiwifarms.net/threads/archive-md-vs-brave-browser.71896/
Use the search function. I found that withing 5 minutes of seeing the initial pin.

"The retard who owns archive.md is basically trying to extort money from the Brave Foundation by blocking Brave users from using the site. That's most people on Kiwi Farms."

Haha, the optimism is strong in this one.

This has actually been going on for a while, surprised @Null just noticed it. Most of the archive domains work (I use .vn and it's fine) but I suspect if I went to the main archive.vn page and force-refreshed or deleted my cache it would stop working.

As for why he's doing it, supposedly Brave first refused to let him turn off Brave donations to his account (basically causing them to go into a limbo where Brave Foundation profited off of them?) then when they finally let him turn off Brave Ads on his site and shut down that stuff he tried to cash out the Brave tokens he had and they basically told him they refused to send money to someone in Russia. After he rasied holy hell about that it turns out they do that on the regular to anyone in Russia, China, and Indonesia.

But yeah, it's annoying as shit.

Archive.is has been unresolvable with CloudFlare for years because the guy who runs it is an autistic tard who interprets the specs differently to the entire industry and won't configure his DNS properly.

If he thinks blocking the millions of CloudFlare users is no big deal then why does he think extorting the thousands of Brave users will work?
