Rainer Winkler aka Drachenlord is best known for his years-long conflict with thousands of haters who have antagonized him both online and in front of his house.
NÜRNBERG - The Franconian ex-Youtuber Drachenlord has vacated his house and lost his channel - but the story of Rainer Winkler, the man behind the net phenomenon, seems to be anything but told. Now Netflix reacts to rumors.
There's a lot of talk around Drachenlord Rainer Winkler. It's always been that way - and it hasn't changed. Even months after the Franconian's YouTube channel was locked and the so-called Drachengame lost steam, entire Telegram groups are devoted to the cult of the 33-year-old. The latest buzz: Netflix, the largest streaming provider in the world, is planning a documentary about his life.
Numerous media outlets picked up on the half-baked news surrounding the Drachenlord. "Netflix is filming a documentary about the life of the Internet star," headlines the industry service PC Games, for example. There is talk of meetings with an ominous production company that is supposed to pay Winkler five-figure sums for a cooperation. Even a contract is circulating in the relevant Hater groups, i.e. where opponents of the Drachenlord exchange information.
Drachenlord says he is "basically incapable of acting".
When asked by our editors, Netflix now responds to the rumors for the first time. A spokesman for the streaming service does not want to hide anything big - but there is also nothing to confirm properly. "We are looking into the story," says the German press office of the entertainment giant.
A film, a series or a documentary with the Drachenlord is not excluded - but nothing has been decided yet. Currently, talks and research around the Drachengame are underway. In any case, it seems impossible that Netflix - as reported by PC News - wants to launch a documentary as early as 2023.
The Drachenlord became famous via Youtube - but that's exactly where Winkler has been blocked for months. It has become quiet around the streamer, who in the past repeatedly polarized with dubious statements. "In principle, I am incapable of action," Winkler said a few months ago in an interview with our editorial team. "All my money is gone." What is clear is that a deal with Netflix could get the streamer back on track financially.
