Community watch seems to be becoming a bit of a dumping ground for threads people have no idea what else to do with them.

What exactly is the criteria for a community watch thread?

The subforum is turning into a bit of a mess with no clear direction.

You do realize it was always intended as a containment forum for shit right? Why do you think all the former Entersphere threads ended up there?

And that's great and all but it's not really about the quality and more the fact that what type of thread should be placed in community watch appears to be ill defined.

There's already a stickied thread for this.

Though looking at it, it really may be time for another mega purge because it is way more shit looking at it from the forum page than I remember.

I suggest reporting terrible threads there. Note that some of them are long standing threads that aren't going anywhere, though, because there's nowhere else for them and they're not quite bad enough to delete.

The Brony and euphoric atheist threads have run their course and are now just incredibly shitty circlejerks. The alt right thread and the boy who cried sjws threads were never funny or interesting in the slightest, in fact I suspect they were made purely with the intention of provoking conservative leaning forum members. Actually come to think of it looking at the front page the Deviantart horrors and the furries threads are really the only ones worth preserving. Maybe the sjw warrior thread if only to keep sjw sperging off the rest of the site.

Ehhh, the alt-right thread was funny back in the day when it was about the collected group of sperglords known as the Dark Enlightenment. I do see your point though. Also, "made with the intention of provoking conservative-leaning users? Have you seen Deep Thoughts?

Preferably threads in that sub should be about definable communities that are focused on very odd interests or communities that have an absurd amount of internal drama where people act like lolcows. Besides culling the fandom threads and restricting them to being about very specific websites to exact qualification is a lot of times quite loose - some community watch threads function based on a wider topic such as "Furries" that spans multiple furry sites / happenings so there doesn't have to be a thread for every single one.

I think some of the politics-based threads should be given the axe if anything, with valid threads being moved to Deep Thoughts / E/N.

The White Genocide Nutjobs and Alt Right threads have been similar to the Anti-Vaxx crowd we moved to Deep Thoughts because it was less about Lolcow-y behavior than talk surrounding the subject. Similarly, threads on politician fanbases are fairly iffy - while things like LionsofTrump and /r/Sandersforpresident are definable communities where Lolcow-y behavior or drama happens, they often boil down to politisperging.

Some of the political threads that haven't produced any actual Lolcow content and have had more to do with politics (or [subject matter] sperging instead of the actual intended lolcows) are probably ones that should go. White Genocide Nutjobs thread was recently a target of an expansive cleanup but because there was no clear impetus from people wanting it moved, it was given a new chance. But since then it has generated almost no replies, which makes me think it would probably be better off at Deep Thoughts.

Can we get caps from the private mod sewing circle so we can make a comm watch on Kiwi mods?

While I like theoretical sperging, I think this axe idea sounds better. Let's just chop down all the politics threads where there's nothing funny at all and not a lolcow in sight.

And then move on from there, because the subforum is really shit at the moment.

Bronies and furries threads are going nowhere, though.

im happy to take the pol threads into EN/DT

if users report more we can clean more its over to you lot folks.

Also which threads should just go away? Feel free to name them. If I'm a guilty participant myself I probably won't axe them, but I know these threads are shit. At least some of them need to go away.

I don't think the alt-right and boys who cried sjw threads were to provoke conservative members any more than the sjw thread was made to provoke left leaning members.

Both sides have some really idiotic people running around on their end of the political (autism) spectrum that are easily classed as lolcows weather they be altrighters like Aurini and such or progressives like Lindy West and others.

I don't either. Anyone claiming that is a buttmad idiot who is apparently totally okay with the other thread.

The question, though, is which threads are actually appropriate. The alt-right thread is pretty vacuous and useless and the boys who cried SJW has some lolcow content.

The threds to me should both stay, but some of the shitty posts and derailings should be tossed into spergatory.

If it has actual lolcow content, it can stay. However, I think that White Genocide Nutjobs thread is like the Anti-Vaxx thread : it has discussion and debate on the subject instead of really having many examples of them being lolcows.
