Concepts and topics that aren't actually that deep or interesting

My wife was reading a novel recently and was telling me about the plot and topics discussed in the book. One of the topics she was telling me about was how the main character, who was a publisher, went to a museum and after looking around at all the art got depressed at how nothing any of his artists or authors published was as good as what was in the museum, and how 99.9% of people are going to be forgotten by time regardless of what they do, basically saying something to the effect of "No matter who you are, in 100 years nobody will remember your existence".

In the moment it's thought provoking and interesting, but if you think about the topic for a little bit you realize just how commonly it is used and how played out it's been. Yea, everybody dies. People have been finding different ways to say, portray, depict, express that concept for literally ever now. There's no more novel discussion to be had about the fact that people all die, and a character experiencing that isn't an interesting story point anymore because you see it in shows, movies, games, songs, and books all the time.

I think the best way I could boil it down would be, the concept of people dying and being forgotten isn't some complex topic that only well read intellectuals have thought of, but is a common trope that even kids learn about from Lightning McQueen in "Cars" and hell, it's literally the plot of "Coco".

What are some other topics that people like to portray as deep, but are basically just pseudo intellectual slop.

Revenge bad.
I seriously fucking hate these types. Yea I get what they're trying to go for, the whole thing about breaking the cycle of violence angle.
But when the villian has legitimately ruined countless lives and right when the protag is about to but him down, someone tells the MC that they'll be just as bad as the villian.

"Reality is like.. an illusion n shit"
"We are all like.. one n shit"
"Hate and anger are.. just bad okay? Never have hate or anger over anything!"
The concept where if your continuously nice to the asshole, the asshole will become your friend.
I'd also throw all pathological altruistic thinking like that all assholes will change if you are just nice or that everyone just feels guilt then changes for the better.
I know so many people IRL that have this kind of mindset, only to be treated like shit by the same assholes for decades on end.

"Wow dude did you know that capitalism/colonialism/communism/insert any other political structure author exaggerates is... le bad???" the story.

I've never found Orwell's 1984 as deep as many people make it up to be, not to mention how many of his genius concepts are ideas he stole from other authors. It didn't age well and at places feels very naive, as if a highschooler wrote it. The only reason it got talked about so much is thanks to being published right as the red scare started to take off, and imo there's a huge problem with mid books getting shilled as super deep smart classics because they happen to spread the right political message the current Big Brother wants. Back then it was all about comically evil commies, now it's all about comically evil capitalists. And people just eat up the slop that fits their unchallenged black-and-white views.

Edit: Aaack! I hate women (like you) ninja-ed me!

Post-apocalyptic stories like The Walking Dead where "humans are the real monsters".

Clear meanings on expressions that are intended to provoke thought, but them being so painfully obvious that just by uttering it you may ask yourself afterwards if the collective IQ of people has decreased massively.

E.g: "You miss all the shots you don't take."
Wow, no shit. Maybe the specific situation is more nuanced and requires an understanding of the causes about why someone may not "take that shot" for example, or what other obstacle there is that's not the lack of knowledge of this extremely wise saying.

E.g: "Public protest should be legal and it is, but you should not be able to unreasonably impede or obstruct the path of other citizens (such as blocking traffic), as that would be a violation of their rights."
Yeah, Ok.

E.g: "[Insert thing MoistCr1TiKaL said]"
"Wise words from Internet Jesus Christ!" (has a Baldi avatar).

E.g: "Flat-earthers are dumb, lol."
Well, the fact that you're so obsessed over such a low hanging fruit, hints towards the very possible fact that you're not that bright either, as that is your only way for feeling intellectually superior to someone.

Politics in general. When people start sperging about the importance of anything in contemporary politics, I ask them "who was president 100 years ago and what did he do that impacts your life today?" No one remembers or cares about Calvin Coolidge. Even when we get into the 2040's, people will be hard-pressed to express anything complex beyond "muh Nazis and the Holly Cost."
