Yet somehow it's gone up a bit from yesterday, which baffles me.

Just felt like updating this to say that the numbers keep getting higher rather than lower like anyone would think. Feels a bit fishy...

It's probably just part of their CI/CD process as they commit finished changes/patches from workstations as they wind down development. No point turning it off, since they've already got it all set up, doesn't cost them anything (Valve foots the storage bill), and might as well have an off-site archive of build artifacts just in case.

If they are planning to try again, they might have a chance of recovering some of their money if they re-release Concord as a free to play game, and replaced every single model with actually atractive characters. Can you imagine a FTP PS5 game with sexy women? Their DEI artist would literally convulse and scream to the heavens. But if you rather listen to them over the people that might buy your game, you deserve to fail.

I am not even saying they would recover all their money. Just that it wouldn't be a complete loss. Their best case scenario is an ugly sonic situtation. But if they just re-realese it, with no changes, they will just lose even more money and be mocked endlessly.

You figure its possible? keep in mind, they made the knife wielding tranny have extra LONG shoulder pads that made a man look like MORE of a man, and daw was still daw, at best they look like some fat kid some grandma takes care of.

BEYOND THAT, they already refunded stuff, so what if they make less money than they refunded? I'll still give it to sony that refunding was one of the few good moves they made, but it would be ironic. I guess on a pure PR level refunding and getting even partial money won back via f2p would be smarter, but still.

Changing the game models should be very easy, I think. And very cheap even. It would be mostly a cosmetic change. Just hire a character designer, a 3d modeler, and some dev to make the changes. Not everything can be saved, however. For instance, those super expensive cinematics they were planning to release? Those are a complete money loss. No doubt. Same goes for most of the promotional material.

Ditching all the old ugly character models for good ones is the only way I see this game recovering some of their money. If they just re-relaese it as FTP, they are doomed.

Modeling is incredibly time consuming, as is all the texturing, rigging/animation. A lot of these games ship with what 5 maps? The core of a hero shooter is the characters and their animations.

If they do a revamp we will be able to map the revisions 1 for 1 with the originals easily, it will feel like skins for the same characters.

Yeah no that's not happening, given the time it will need to model, animate, texture and adjusting the hitboxes to account for the newer, less DEI ridden models. if Sony actually brings Concord back as a F2P, it's very likely going to be another Morbius, but without the ironic memes that came out, and even less people able to play it because they'll force a PSN account so goodbye half the world that doesn't let you make a PSN account.

I meant easy and cheap relative to a big company like Sony. I should've clarifed that, I suppose. I still think just doing cosmetic changes should be relatively easy compared to redoing the whole game, which isn't really nessesary. The issue is really only the ugly characters.

Fixing those ugly models should be non-issue for a company with Sony's resources. It should be very easy for them. I concur that its unlike to happen, but again, it's the only way they could somehow recover some money.

May be better to just leave the current roster in and introduce a brand new roster. Cause removing or "fixing" them is not worth the $$$ and paid manhours at second those people start REEEEEing and committing lawfare for the time being. Will second the opinion on the PSN account bullshit making any attempts at salvaging Concord completely pointless.

I don't know if the tranny character was an accidental homage or if there are snakes in the grass in DEI-land.

I mean, there's always snakes in the grass in settings like that, the reasons Concord took so long and looks so shit was probably due to infighting between factions vying for power. Makes we wonder how many of the devs had to take time off for burning themselves out engaging in office activism.

Do I think it's possible? No. Do I want to see them try? Absolutely.

There's no way on god's green earth they'll un-poz this game for a second run through the wringer. For one thing, it's costly. For another, they are so stuffed to the brim with diversity hires and kool-aid drinkers there's no way for such a plan to ever make it out of the "this guy mentioned this idea so let's fire him quickly" stage internally.

Remember these are the people who demanded and implemented ugly-ass troons in the game in the first place. Do you seriously think they'd sit quietly in their cubicles and follow orders to pretty up all the characters, get rid of the pronouns and LGBT branding and tone down the politics? Fuck no they wouldn't. There'd be a (hilarious) shit storm of unprecedented magnitude internally and publicly (on twitter anyway) if leadership even dared suggest such a notion.

And leadership is just as pozzed as the rank-and-file, too.

Even assuming they're not just archiving the last bits from their build system (triggering the "depots updated" alerts), the best you can expect from them is a surface-layer reskin of the UI, maybe (big maybe) toned down hideous colors and perhaps a slight de-uglifying of a couple characters. They may also go F2P with it, which is my guess -- they've been updating the game to be F2P and revamping the microtransactions accordingly to monetize it, with no graphical changes.

Oh I have not doubt the studio employed will cry on Twitter about "muh LGBT erasure". Still nothing is stoping Sony from giving the job to another studio.

Question is, what Sony would rather have. Recover some of the money they lost, or have some Twitter loons happy? We know the disappointing answer, still unless they do an ugly sonic, this game is finished.

Not even going FTP would save this game.

They're as pozzed as the studio. They bought the studio, after all. Sony doesn't seem to believe there's a problem with their product, but rather its marketing, those pesky not-sees and alt-righters, timing, competition, or market conditions. It's already shocking they actually found someone at the company with enough clout and grip on reality to pull and refund the game (that's arguably what made it so newsworthy). They absolutely will not compromise on the game's content. Only the "tunable business variables" surrounding it.
