This may not be the craziest buy ever imo. Concord is, and will likely be for a long time if not forever, the worst selling\performing game of all time. Even the worst things ever get recognition for accomplishing that very concept. I bet memorabilia from the Movie "The Room" go for a pretty shekel or two. Then again, The Room is funny bad and enjoyment is still present.
Concord will be remembered as nothing but a cautionary tale of hubris and an industry that refused to course correct even as it collapsed around them.

Now Contrast that with Tommy Wiseau... some weird maybe-German or maybe-Polish guy who showed up out of nowhere in San Francisco selling Jeans. And then he wanted to make a movie so he brute-forced something into existence that perfectly encapsulated "So bad, it's good."

And that's why Tommy is a fucking legend.

And that's why Tommy is a fucking legend.
The main reason Tommy doesn't have a lolcow thread himself is that despite his arrogance, once he realized his movie had gained an immense cult fandom, he leaned into it and even showed up at events about it. He didn't create the movie he wanted, but he created the fame he truly desired.

He'll always be remembered for his passion if not for the actual results of it. Sort of like Ed Wood. Ed Wood was actually passionate about his art, even though his art was terrible. Even so, he was a decent person, and Bela Lugosi possibly would have died homeless on the streets if not for Wood.

Concord, though? Soulless shit. Absolute garbage. Pure pandering.

Part of the "so bad it's good" thing is the creator actually CARING about what he made, pouring out his soul, and it was godawful but you could still appreciate the heart in it. Soulless corporate crap trying to pander to wokeshit will never have that.

Time for a job update!

I was bored so I decided to take a look at concord's character artists to see if any of them had new jobs, and... the answer is mostly no.

As you can guess, Mackenzie made the hideous cat creatura. She now produces marvel slop at insomniac. However before you're shocked, most of the people at firewalk that have jobs now seem to have them with places they previously worked at. In fact, I'd say this covers 9/10 of the employees of fire walk that aren't still #opentowork.

Everyone else on her team? See here:

ALL of them are still jobless. One of them even has even removed Firewalk from his linkedin, it just says "Sony Interactive." Lol, lmao even.

I'm so sorry, Chris. But please, contain your giggles. He's far from the only person to do this.

Sadly, a few truly reprehensible pieces of human garbage have gotten jobs that shouldn't have. Almost entirely the higher ups who were exactly the people who SHOULDNT EVER WORK IN THE FIELD AGAIN. Everyone already knows about Jon Jewski the White people hating faggot and Lisa Brown the mentally ill schizophrenic, but here's another one who is unfortunately still employed as a game dev.

Of course this was probably a demotion and a very large pay cut, but the fact that he is still allowed to work in the industry is disgusting. "I spent the last four years directing the design of a game that cost 200 million and sold 200 copies" should not be met with anything other than 'lol, fuck off retard.' Yet here he is.

All the talk of other devs made me look into lisa "the professor" brown, and I found some horrifying news.

She appears to be currently working AT EA formally now as a "principle world designer". Sounds like an important role, so nobody learned anything. I think this is also a sign of things to come at EA.

Linkedin. Having a little trouble archiving this, since without logging in, it won't archive. Tried 2 different ones, sorry guys. If anyone can figure it out, I'd appreciate it.

Her twitter has been locked for a while, but she DOES appear to have a bluesky / archive

And it appears she will be at a convention in july???

I am delighted these subhumans have found gainful employment with other major publishers.

I win by merely breathing, while they go on to sabotage another bunch of projects.

WELL WELL WELL, it's Josh Hamrick, the infinifaggot who ruined Reach (in tandem with Sage Merrill) and gave Halo its first push down the cliff on the way to becoming the forgotten toilet franchise it is today. Of course he gets another design job immediately while the voiceless grunts who probably came close to roping half-a-dozen times each while carrying out his and Professor's orders remain jobless. I love when people I hate resurface in strange places.

I see this as an absolute win. EA produces nothing but slop so this is a perfect place to contain her. I hope all these people find jobs far away from anything I could conceivably care about.

Unfortunately, at least in IT, the prefix "principal" means she's making a fuckton of money. The "rankings" go "junior -> middle -> senior -> principal," with a hefty salary increase at each step. No reason to think it's any different in that market either.

Ah well, yet another expensive lesson EA will refuse to learn. Good for her continuing the grift, I guess.

An unfortunate consequence but not any more disgusting than guys like Andrew Wilson being paid millions to shit up everything EA touches. If it accelerates the complete immolation of the AAA industry I'm all for it.

I think what scares me is EA faces massive losses with veilguard, concord was an immense loss and.....this doesn't even seem to phase them. I know DAMN WELL they understand why, so it gives me an uncomfortable uncanny feeling, like if you see someone quite literally immune to pain, and its terrifying. Like imagining a guy stepping on a bear trap, you SWEAR that should be it, but they just dance a jig in place, bear trap and all. The beartrap thrashing around MIGHT make them bleed out faster, but its still horrifying. because you expect a shriek of pain and surrender.

I'm sure it phases all the people who've been shitcanned as a result of these massive failures, but anyone at or above an executive level is laughing all the way to the bank because it literally doesn't affect them. Bobby Kotick got a $15-million severance package after being begged to leave BlizzAcc, and even that is a drop in the ocean of his estimated $600-million net worth (that's almost 2 Concords!).

As we've just seen in this thread, the people who shepherded Concord into the slaughterhouse have been able to not only find work elsewhere, but in lucrative roles. Being attached to a project like that should be a millstone round your career, but it doesn't matter when your job is essentially made up in the first place.

If anything, stuff like this just highlights how much bloat and dead weight there is in the AAA industry and why it deserves to be euthanized.

My point is that Concord will become mystified overtime. I guaranteed you, 10 years from now there will be a slew youtube\tiktok Alpha generation commentators making videos about "A GAME SO BAD THAT IT DESTROYED AN INDUSTRY" or something along those lines. Concord has the setup for all the hallmarks that E.T. had back during the late 2000's and early 2010's. A terrible game blamed for a collapse in the industry, the company attempted to destroy the game, and the game was lambasted to the point that a major game company actual gave refunds for once. It's good click bait is what I'm saying.

Every time I see this picture I always think of this.

He's still going to die from blood loss, and the more he keeps ignoring the isssue, the faster that will happen.

The only explanation I have why this controlled demolition is allowed to go on is that the people in charge are either zealots fully committed to the woke ideology, or are aware but don't care because they have their severance packages, and know that their chances of future employment hinge on displaying proper reverence to the cult.

That being said, the current system is unsustainable. Not even BlackRock and their ilk can keep propping up every entertainment company in the West indefinitely, not when every single flop ends up costing them hundreds of millions of dollars and further alienating the goys.

My favorite character in concord was the big fat ugly Mexican in the blue puffy coat, I like how 90% of the characters look like the collect food stamps and have a EBT card.

It's also that these organizations are even more unwieldy then Hollywood film studios. If Disney wanted to course correct right now and start pre-production on things that people would actually want to watch and be excited for, with all of the projects that are too far along in the production process to be stopped, it would be 2027 before we saw a noticeable change.

Now look at the AAA games industry. Concord was in production for eight years and Veilguard was in production for a decade. When production on those games started, we were deep into peak woke and unrestrained cancel culture and the rise and fall of BLM just in time for the vibe shift against those things. Their production cycles are so long that they have no meaningful way to anticipate trends.

Even when they're trying to sell off a piece of the game's illustrious history something goes wrong, you cannot get more on-brand than this.
