Promises to use congressional powers to spy on and punish citizens.

Wu has no idea what a congressional subpoena is, its power, and how to issue one.

Plus, I'll be she doesn't know the three requirements of a congressional subpoena - authorization under the standing committee's chamber, it must pursue a valid legislative purpose, and it must be subject matter pertinent to an already open investigation.

The mountains this thing has to climb.

John is a moron. Congress has the power to issue subpoenas, not individual members. This general power is also delegated to COMMITTEES, not individual members, and committees act through the chair of the committee.

A junior House member would have no such power.

While people have raised excellent points about subpoenas, average people don't know how it works. Hell, i had no clue about subpoenas til Wu started talking about it and this forum called out in unison "dumbass!"

If we're going to run counter-ads, we should focus on how Wu has stated to aim this stuff at average people ("she will target you for the unspeakable crime of doing your job" or something). Maybe we also do a thing discussing how much of an abuse of power this would be, and how she can't do that subpoena thing anyway. There are multiple avenues to take with this, it's so full of wrong.

Have Brianna Wu's name be filtered to be Brianna "I WILL MAKE STALIN LOOK LIKE A FUCKING ANARCHIST" Wu.

The average people, as you said, don't do much research. Using the "Will target average Joes and Janes" tactic will be much more efficient IMO.

Isn't it also incriminating that Wu's saying she wants to become a congressman to have a greater voice over media? While it's not against any rule for a congressman to use their position as a soapbox, it reflects very poorly on them if that's their goal. This is a great example of that being exactly what she wants from a bid for congress.

A better angle than wanting to influence the media (since public trust in the media is at an all time low, and I doubt that'll be a major concern for voters) is to emphasize how Wu is exactly the sort of tiny tyrant you don't give power to. This tweet perfectly illustrates that.

Just imagine an ad that shows the tweet, explains how a) she doesn't understand the powers of government, and b) she is exactly the sort of person who would abuse what power they have.

"Brianna Wu doesn't understand how Congress works. Brianna Wu wants to use congressional power as a means to fulfill personal vendettas, not to help voters in District 8. Do you want to give someone like Brianna Wu Congressional authority? Make the right decision, and do not vote for Brianna Wu."

"Briana Wu thinks that Congress should be used to investigate sexists in the tech industry. Don't you think they have more important things to do..? Vote Lynch. He's got his priorities straight!" (background photos/screencaps of things he's done/him playing with children and a dog in the front yard grass/whatever/something wholesome) "Lynch shares YOUR priorities!"
