Hip hop and especially mainstream rap's got an unfortunate but depending on who you ask deserved reputation as being nothing but niggas chest beating and flexing nuts and it's a damn shame that so many take that rep at face value and miss out on pure street poetry. ITT post real joints with a message or a story beyond dick waving.

underachievers are kiiinda conscious, they talk about escaping depression, finding spirituality and opening their third eye via psychedelics (if youre into that), but they're still pretty good.



 
Since you Brend's got a baby how bout Brenda by Maxo? it more a story than unconscious so i'm not sure if it would count.(love his new album)
 
A lesser-known '90es group from Texas called Example has some pretty righteous verses. This one also has a catchy chorus.
