Console Modding

Solution:

Get a PC, hook up to a TV and never have to 'jailbreak' anything again.
But that's not fun. :(

The main benefit one gets from modding a console is unlocking its full potential, freeing them from corporate shackles essentially. Most of the time I see people recommend a PC be at least 10x more powerful than the console you're attempting to emulate and you would also need to wait for most of the time a hobbyist to make and support emulators. Getting a PC that can emulate the PS2 is still rather pricey and Xbox emulation is almost non existent... even from Microsoft. lol

I'm mainly in the console hacking scene for the learning experience it has to offer and the fun of it.

Nah, you can emulated PS2 just fine on an entry level PC and anything good on Xbox has a native PC port. The only console I think I would get to mod is a PSP for portable emulation goodness.

I want to build a GB/GBC/GBA emulator so I can play around with the hidden files of my now dying internal battery of Pokemon Crystal. I haven't done any console modding at all. I may do so but I'm unsure.

RGH3 was discovered by a thick-accented Russian a few years back, and this tutorial (along with one of the top comments) makes it look so easy that I'm considering getting into soldering and shit like that for myself.

Edit: And more recently, a leaf called Mike has been modding phat models with a fucking zero-fuse CPU, which lets you run homebrew without having to wait for the reset glitch.

I modded my Vita, I think that was it. I probably got more play time out of the damn thing after that than any console, still use it to this day.

I hope an easy hack comes along for Switch eventually. I'll probably get another one when they're discontinued and just put it away or something.

I modded my original Xbox, but that's mostly just to play OG live games.
