Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Yeah if the cartoon you voice is famous, I would at least expect you to have a shrine on your house if I come over to visit. A bit like going to the lady who voices pikachu and finding out she has this soulless minimalist style going without a single toy or plush.
I could play Jesus and then have a flat white domicile with absolutely nothing on any of the walls.

Speaking of that block building style, I swear every new apartment is being built with this fast food chain style too. You can be in a nice neighborhood with beautiful homes and then one of these eyesores is put in the middle of it. I consider these kinds of apartments along with newer build homes to be peak consoom in a different way--they're designed for quick profit and very little longevity. Many have issues after a few years, like things falling apart or like in Aurora Colorado, exploding a few years after being built.

They are called five over ones or four over ones.
They are basically the cheapest way to build multi units in the US because you can build them out of wood if you stay under five stories.

The urbanists love them. But they are cheap shit where you can hear your neighbors waking around and if you're on the top floor you can hear the dozen or so a/c units vibrate and murmur all day and night.

Been doing the rounds at estate sales recently cause I'm looking for some decor stuff and furniture that retail/online isn't fulfilling and I definitely feel this. Especially Christmas decor, good lord the Christmas decor.

The Internet is a blessing and curse for listings because when there's pictures of all the stuff online you don't have to waste your time driving to places digging through crap blind, but at the same time, if there's a diamond in the rough you see and really want and don't want to chance it still being there discounted on the 2nd/3rd/final day, chances are there is someone else who feels the same, so gotta be the early bird and beeline to what you want.

I've posted this woman on two other threads but you may find her interesting as well:

Well hey at least if nothing else she's out and about getting some much needed exercise.

So, more seriously, how can she afford to eat enough to get that fat and live in a decent home and go cruising estate sales to pick up endless trinkets? There's obviously no man involved here to fund it.

from what i've noticed with these types of women it's not always that they can "afford to", very often times they cannot
or rather, any one of us in the same situation would say they we cannot, we have 20 bucks in our pocket and we say we've got nothing because those 20 bucks have to go for groceries soon
people like her go "20 buckeroos? shopping trip time!!1!!1!1one!" spend it all, maybe even with credit card depth, then go a begging

these are the types of people who constantly say they're broke and can't afford anything and yet seem to have everything
yes of course sometimes they're lying, sometimes they're rich babies or have someone funding it
but sometimes it's true, they just don't know how to fold their money and put it back in their pocket, ever

Despite making up 50% of the population, women make up 80% of consumer spending. This is something they casually teach in Economics 101 by the way, just as a throwaway fact.
I believe that's a large part of the reason why entertainment is more and more inane nowadays and less appealing to men, in a roundabout way
Most people who make movies/tv shows/any kinda entertainment no longer ask themselves who their target audience is, they just gear their work to everyone- the 'general audience'- a faceless grey goop person that doesn't exist, and since women spend the most, tend to be the first choosers of entertainment in their household, and have weaker sensibilities, they're the base of the tower effectively
It's like how if you geared a cartoon for the whole family, you'd gear it towards kids first, an adult can watch some silly slapstick but a kid can't be seeing a show about sex and drugs, so there's your common denominator

Women spend more because women buy groceries, clothes, household items, furniture, appliances etc for THE ENTIRE FAMILY. Men only buy stuff for themselves.

Single men spend more than single women.

If they think grandma might come visit some day, they'll hang onto one trinket, keep it in a closet, and put it up on prominent display when she visits. It takes next to no effort or space and a bit of lip service to make an old person feel valued, loved and welcome
I’ve got a funny story about that. My MIL got rid of her mom’s china when grandma moved into a retirement home. One day grandma visited MIL’s home and asked where the china was. “Oh, it’s just packed away in a cupboard!” MIL hopped on eBay and bought 4 place settings from that pattern, which she proudly displayed to set granny’s mind at ease that it was still safe and well.
