- Keffals (and Tipster) foolishly have tried to defend Vaush.
- Ethan pushed back against both of them.
- Not being able to call two Jews Nazis, Keffals has tried to claim Ethan is transphobic... somehow.
- Ethan (correctly) points out that Keffals is using their trans identity to try and win an argument that has nothing to do with trans identity, and told Qween Keffals to go fuck themselves.

Now it would appear Contra might have some choice words for Keffals pulling the trans card to try and defend Vaush.

I hope Contra does a video, because watching Keffals getting BTFO'd by another tranny would be awesome. All of Keffals's usual attack vectors would be completely ineffective.

It's a need for adoration. He was always testing the waters with this stuff, dressing up in bondage gear in old videos, talking about his kinks, generally just putting himself and his sex life into videos whenever he felt brave enough, and pushing it further whenever he got positive reinforcement. His transition wasn't instant like PhilosophyTube, it was gradual, and the more he got into crossdressing on camera and centering his identity around it the more his old audience of people who were into atheism and philosophical debates got replaced with an LGBT audience who are much more inclined towards celebrity worship. As his transition progressed his content became much more parasocial, inviting millions of random strangers into the most intimate aspects of his life. If he kept his identity as a straight man, it wouldn't get him the same cult of followers he has now.

The last "tangent" video (on The Male Gaze) was shared with Patreon members on October, and since then there's been a "Patreon pause"

The last ContraPointsLive stream was "Playing Liminal Games and Saying That They’re Liminal" in June. The last main channel video was the hasty "in defence of me going on that JK Rowling podcast" back in April, but the last "proper" video was "The Hunger" in May 2022. Contra had been saying there'd be a release last year-

-but broke it by releasing that Male Gaze tangent and then no main channel content. So no primped videos for a year, no public streams for 8 months, no selfies for six months and no low-effort rambles for 4 months. There's claims that a new video is coming out on February 29th, but this all points to a further decline.

There's a lot of potential reasons for this - Contra's on drugs, Contra can't edit content down to reasonable sizes, Contra's been scared off the internet by PhilosophyTube's skinwalking, Contra's been scared off the internet by the JK Rowling backlash... but there's still an active twitter account. I'm wondering if it's actually an aversion to appearing on camera. The elaborate costuming and makeup aren't exciting to think about if you hate how you look, plus you don't want to stare at your own face editing for hours on end. Lower effort videos that don't require as much editing (or selfies from a flattering angle) might be more manageable, but if you start being really repulsed by how you look you might start shunning that as well. You could even procrastinate by spending longer and longer on research and scripts to put off trying to make a video and having to appear on camera, and when that runs out of steam tell yourself that the video's too long and ambitious to make.

I guess we'll see on February 29th.

I think you're making a mistake in assuming this comes from a sincere belief. A lot of people have this idea that he's self-aware and not so maniacally attached to trans activism that he may, in a moment of clarity, realize this isn't going anywhere, and detransition, but all that is exactly why he went down this road in the first place. A lot of people have some undisclosed ulterior motivation for getting into things like youtube activism, even if they're convinced it's strictly for rational and ethical reasons. A smart, well adjusted person will, if they have any loyalty to their ideas, try their best to put aside their biases and emotions if they get in the way of communicating their message. It's not too different from this website's relationship with a-logging.

Contra understands this, but he takes it in the opposite direction. He'll drop the pretense that any of this is meant to help anybody and will instead just talk about himself if he knows he can get away with it without criticism. That's why his whole youtuber career has been defined by this boundary pushing, so his videos just become more and more about developing and maintaining his brand as time goes on. His videos used to have more sincerity to them, his old video on psychiatry was, by his own admission, almost entirely speculation, but because of this admission the video maintains some value in starting a conversation about the subject. Skip to today and that kind of open-endedness is no longer present, his videos always have a specific conclusion they're meant to impart on the audience, and he's always at the center of it.

That's why him being smarter than other trans people has, in a lot of ways, made his life worse. This is what he wants, and he knows how to get it. Until he changes that aspect of himself, he's only going to look for new ways to get that high when the old ways no longer work.

I think he's just way too invested in his self-image. From his description of his childhood it seems he had parents who tried extra hard to be involved in his development and shoved tons of psychiatric drugs down his throat when he started doing poorly in school. I think as a result he struggles to accept his own imperfection, in the past he's made "jokes" about wanting to kill himself over an imperceptible recession in his hairline and it would not be surprising to find out that as he ages he spends more time googling how to fix various aspects of himself and possibly even talking to doctors about it. Especially considering how prone he is to bad habits like drinking, drug use, fixating on stressors, etc. it's probably hard for him to develop a healthy attitude towards things like aging, despite him saying he didn't want to obsess over these things in the FFS video.

I think there's at least 3 competing theories, although the truth is probably some kind of mix of them

1. He's had a serious porn addiction for several years now though he's deluded enough to think this is something to brag about what with him constantly shoving the subject in people's faces when no one asked him to. I guess you could say this is some kind of trauma response to his abusive upbringing with his parents raising him in a repressive Christian environment while also overmedicating him on psychiatric drugs since he was a child. The armchair psychologist in me says he learned this fundamentalist behavior as a kid and is now repeating it in the opposite direction as an act of rebellion. Its no wonder that Witch Trials of JK Rowling podcast pissed him off so much for suggesting that Evangelical lunatics and TRA lunatics are two sides of the same coin because he knows there's a lot of truth there and it must've personally cut him very, very deep.

This is far from the first time that an obvious AGP public figure has made statements about how they developed a T-porn obsession that eventually inspired them to troon out like Andrea Long Chu of "Did Sissy Porn Make Me Trans?" infamy or the Wachowski siblings, for example.

2. Being a privileged cis White male effectively put Nyk into a dehumanized pariah class in leftoid spaces especially on the internet where he was trying to make a name for himself so you could argue he transitioned as a cynical business decision which absolutely paid out handsomely for him. All those YouTube views and subscribers, millions in patreon donations, dozens of glowing profiles in various media outlets, a massive champagne socialist mansion, etc. (all this from being essentially a glorified internet NEET) all took off for him right after transitioning and there's no way he would've gotten even half of that unearned success if he had just stayed Nick. To this day trooning out was by far the best thing that ever happened to his career. (His actual body and mind, on the other hand.....)

3. This is more my pet theory but waaay back when he did that debate with Blaire White (Nyk was still dipping his toes into the whole genderqueer label at this point) there was one moment where Blaire says something like "gender dysphoria is a bitch - I don't know if you experience dysphoria - its a bitch. It can be very debilitating. There was a point in my life where it was just fucking my life up, and that's why I transitioned." IMO, losing that debate - but that specific moment in particular - was so fatally embarrassing to Nyk that he felt he had no choice but to go full trans just to save face (IIRC he publicly came out as trans only a short time after the debate).

I forget when exactly, but Nyk has liked to claim in the past that transphobia or bigotry broadly speaking is a kind of sunk cost fallacy, but looking at the direction his life has taken its so obvious to me that he's just projecting, that every step he's taken down his very public path to self-destruction was motivated by the thought that he's gone to far to turn back and has no choice but to keep doubling down to preserve his smarter-than-the-rest self image.
