Cookie Run is an old (2009) Korean franchise made by Devsisters, in which the goal is to help some cookies that were baked in the witch's oven to escape her grasps.
Nowadays, the franchise is pretty focused in making gacha-like mobile games (soshages), with the biggest success so far being Cookie Run: Kingdom.
I am surprised that there wasn't any thread about this game anywhere in here, considering its big popularity and how one of their games is going to have an impactful update... Oh well, I'll start the torch then!
Listings here are going to be of the more relevant games of the franchise:
CookieRun: Ovenbreak
The game that started Devsisters' departure from Line and Kakao messaging apps.
Released globally on October 27, 2016. CookieRun: Ovenbreak is a side-scroller platforming game where you have to make your cookie run as far as you can, while avoiding obstacles by jumping, sliding, using powerups, or from the Cookie's skills. The game is also focused in getting points through collecting jellies, gummy bears, and other types of candies you can find with the help of yout selected cookie, pet and treasures.
CookieRun: Kingdom
By far the most profitable and popular game of the franchise, both in Global and Korea.
Being a spin-off of the side-scroller games such as CookieRun: Ovenbreak, it was released globally around January 19-21, 2021. It is an pseudo-autobattler RPG game in which the biggest feature is its focus on being a story-driven game with extended worldbuild and cast.
The game has 2 main sections of gameplay, one akin to farming games such as Farmville, where you maintain and decorate your Kingdom; the other which is an autobattler where you can make a team up to 5 (sometimes 7) cookies and tap the cookies' skills to use them in battle, more similar to Princess Connect! Re: Dive.
CookieRun: Witch's Castle
When Devsisters wanted to lock in to make a long-standing puzzle game.
Released globally on March 15, 2024. CookieRun: Witch's Castle is a puzzle tap-to-blast game, pretty similar in gameplay to other games such as Pet Rescue Saga. Aside of that, it also has a story mode (similar to Homescapes) that you can advance by collecting stars after clearing a level. You can also unlock and decore the zones for the new cookies and redisents you can get... because, yes, this game also has a Gacha!
CookieRun: Tower of Adventures
Interestingly, one of the few gacha games whose release was delayed in Japan (usually it is the inverse). Also, Devsisters' most focused 3D Cookie Run game.
Released globally (except Japan) on June 26, 2024, and released in Japan on April 3, 2025 (published by Yostar)<. CookieRun: Tower of Adventures is a 3D top-down ARPG game, where you have to fight against enemies in the Pancake Tower in a hack'n'slash matter with the help of many cookies and their skills. You can form up to a team of 3 cookies for some game modes (including a recently added roguelike mode), while others are co-op/PvP modes where you can only select one cookie, but with multiple players. You can collect both cookies and their artifacts (weapons, like in HSR's light cones) by gacha, and has dedicated grinding to make your cookies even stronger.
The curious thing about this game is that, unlike other gachas that have a time-gap between the Global version and the Japanese version (where JP is way ahead), this game has a time-gap between the Global version and the Japanese version (where JP is behind Global), making it quite a rare case. Though, do not worry, Yostar has been accelerating the JP version to catch up Global sooner or later.
Other games of the franchise (that aren't discontinued):
