I think my favorite part of this event is seeing how many journos swiped bottles of wine so they weren't stuck being sober having to wait around.

Even photographers suddenly working were making sure not to put down their drink that they were enjoying.

No shit the war wasn't mentioned. Trump lies constantly so I'm just going to assume based on the fact Squeaky Fromm was a more effective assassin that this was cooked up in Kashapp's office.

Not really. The problem is you have to know what you're reacting to before you shoot it. The sheer shock factor that someone tried this was off the charts. I think their reaction time was about the best you could have hoped for.

While this is fair, you would hope that they'd be well trained enough to attempt to restrain the guy before he makes it through their perimeter, as they are supposed to be defending the most powerful man on the planet, along with all sorts of important officials (fuck the journos, though)

Election years tend to be when peoples emotions around politics are the most heightened, and this guy has been labeled as Super-Mecha-Hitler 4000 for 10 straight years now. People openly want him dead and have violent, borderline masturbatory, fantasies about him being killed.

I'm surprised there haven't been more attempts at this point, but I'd chalk that up to the fact most of the people who would actually pull the trigger either don't have a trigger to pull or could never get close to him anyway.
 
Obviously hardcore leftists are always going to lie but are there seriously centrists and undecideds out there who think some elaborate conspiracy by Trump is more likely than maybe just maybe years of calling on citizens to fight and by implication kill 'the Nazis' might lead to an uptick in vigilante violence?

I think it is more like they were just being a bit negligent. They're standing sentry duty, they're bored, and they become complacent. Then suddenly a nigger with a gun sprints past their station at top speed. It really doesn't surprise me that they would need a 1- or 2- Mississippi before they even realized what happened.
