Community Corset Enthusiasts - Women Who Go Through Great Extremes to Attain their Idea of a Perfect Waist

Jesus christ. Not only is that disgusting and unhealthy looking, but it can't be particularly pleasent-feeling.

I mean excrement sorta has to travel through the intestines. If its all bunched up like string I dont think it's going to have an easy time!

Tight-lacing is said to cause constipation.

Some corsets look awesome, especially the really well made ones. They're very popular outerwear for costume/theme parties/cosplay and such. Thing is, even the best corsets can have some serious constraints on movement and such. You can't drive, sitting down means that you are forced into a ramrod straight position, and going to the bathroom is a nightmare. Think about it: you can't bend down to the necessary things to your garments, follow certain hygiene procedures easily, and you're pretty much doing everything by feel. Outside of the toilet, you can't sit down on a soft seat otherwise you've nothing to brace yourself against when you have to get up again. The harder the chair you're on, the better, but regardless of where you sit, the boning will end up digging in somewhere. Asthma can be an additional problem. It can be brought on by the laces being too tight, or it can be brought on by you thinking that the laces are too tight. Speaking of laces, you can tie them by yourself- some people tie them on doorknobs and use their weight to tighten them that way- but it takes forever to do an acceptable job and the more complicated decorative knots you'll likely need help for.

Of course, all of these sorts of things are going to be less of an issue if you're experienced at wearing corsets in general, and obviously if you're wearing an underbust, or even a short overbust, you'll have a lot more flexibility in the arms and shoulders, as opposed to a full corset that goes from hip to the top of your rib cage. But an underbust corset will still make bending down pretty much impossible, and you'd be amazed at how much flexibility you need in the waist to sit down and drive a car safely. Regardless of whether you're wearing a corset for the looks, or for waist training, or for those people who have to wear them for orthopedic issues... these things can really fuck up your movement. If you go to work on a bus, I daresay you'd be okay. If you have to drive to work, you're running a decent chance that you'll not be able to to look over your shoulder or steer the car out of trouble quickly.

Waist training is bad for the health, but it can be surprisingly unhealthy for other people as well. And it's fucking uncomfortable. There's a reason why corsets fell out of fashion sharpish when elastic came into use.

There's even a female equivalent for Utilikilts!

I assumed modern corsets were just decorative. Didn't think there's people who actually wanted the impossibly tiny waist.

Impossibly tiny, impossibly huge, impossibly shaped: there is a fetish for everything.

Not to mention people have always done all kinds of weird shit for the sake of fashion. That ain't gonna change any time soon.

I'm just going to veto that line of inquiry right now.

Those are completely different than this, though. For starters, they are decorative and it's also very hard to use them to tighten your waist for example, since it's not an entire piece of clothing going around your torso, but just ribbon or thin rope.

Corset piercing is 90% of the time just temporary since there are a lot of tiny wounds to take care at the same time. It consists of multiple surface piercings arranged symetrically in two or more rows, and the jewelry used has hoops you can thread ribbon through.

It's mostly done on the back:

However, the same concept can be applied to other parts of the body:

It's pretty crazy-looking, yeah, but I can admit it can look nice if done tastefully.

But my point is, using it as a way of making your waist smaller is impossible, so the "corset" part is only because of the body mod's aestethic.

I remember learning a bit about old Southern traditions on a trip to Georgia years and years ago- as mentioned already corsets can distort rib shape and the location of one's internal organs. It fucks up both digestion and respiration terribly, if I remember correctly it's hard to eat wearing one. All those southern belles in their corsets were sitting around underfed and short of breath and combined with the muggy southern weather it's no wonder that these gals needed special fainting couches. Aesthetically they're nice (not so much when used for waist training!) but I don't think fashion is worth putting yourself through so much strain.

Any surface piercings, and especially the corset looking ones, are prone to working their way out of the body and causing scaring. This is one of the dumbest ideas for body modification that has made its way into the relative mainstream
