Could someone from the UK seek asylum in the US if they are being prosecuted for thought-crime?

Legally of course, no fence hopping or rubber dinghy.

My guess is probably not but I wonder if some brits might try.

The US most likely has an extradition treaty with Britain and the same goes for Britain and the US. Whatever law was broken no matter how crazy they would probably be handed over.

Now let's say you are Russian and you said Vladi is a baddie and hurt his fee fee's and you had to flee to the US to avoid accidentally falling out of a window. The US would probably give you asylum.

Yes, I think you could do that. Especially if the crime you're accused of is legal in the USA and resulted in the government targeting you (like criticizing the government or a group of people, for example).

It may help you along in the process if you have a scar or documented injury that you acquired during your arrest or detention, but it wouldn't be required.

I think many UK nationals were given asylum in the US during the conflict known as The Troubles.

Really? But was that due to criticizing the UK goverment or was it out of fear of violence by the groups that were active at the time?

To be honest, I'm not certain about the details. But I know that being a Catholic made one at odds with the government as well as groups aligned with it. So perhaps both.

Other farmers may know more.

They are many American lawyers who specialize in this. You could even run it be a subreddit for legal questions.

Catholics in the UK were given their civil rights back in the Victorian times

Almost every group involved in The Troubles assassinated people quite regularly so you could probably parlay a threat or failed attempt into an asylum claim. Maybe Internment would've been grounds for asylum too. Dunno how safe New England would've been for Loyalists since a lot of the PIRA's funding came from there via NORAID, as well as weapons.
