Counter Strike

Eh. There are now female player models, but I really don't care about that. There is absolutely no globohomo shit in the game though, which I fully appreciate.
They could conceivably change the terrorist/counter-terrorist terms.
EDIT: Nevermind, test streamers on Twitch show that the terminology is still the same.

They didn't mention anything about lag and interp in the tick rate video. The smoke looks cool.
i barely play shooters, but cs is by far the most respectable one of them all
its continued success keeps surprising me. the genre is one of the biggest and most oversaturated ones, but somehow this 25 year old hardcore difficult boomer shooter still manages to stay on top of it.
i don't really understand how they do it, but i like it
It has been getting worse overall with each generation. Modding/Mapping community is a fraction of what it used to be and community servers in general. Still an alright shooter though

And here i thought they were only working on their cash shop instead of the game. I hope TF2 gets the same treatment in the future.
Valve ordered a CSGO mod of a source 2 port to stop development while Valve didn’t order a mod for a source 2 port of team fortress 2 to stop development.

Honestly fuck them when they go public on the stock market in the next couple of years CANT wait for the fallout.

That’s been my issue with playing source games nowadays the players who still play prefer match making, rarely ever go on user owned servers anymore, and the scenes basically dried up. Tf2s playerbase basically dug their own grave at this point asking for features from overwatch while still bragging to be better.

The cache argument you have me there but why couldn’t they refresh it for you? It’s almost like hmmm valves various accountants, investment analysts, psychologists saw what they can do.
TF2 had this solved by wiping the cache on game exit anyway unless you set a setting to have it not do so. It's a non issue, an excuse to Valves greed.

CS2 seems cool but for a long time the only fun I've really had in CS is the gun game mod. not arms race or whatever, the old mod where every time you level up it plays the Mario mushroom sound and Dave Chapelle says "GOTCHA BITCH" whenever somebody gets knifed. it's just not the same without the goon energy.
I know only one active community server in NA that runs that gun game plugin. I still think it's better than the official gun game mode.

I really like the sound of these new smokes that you can counter with frags or shooting and can fill up space dynamically, it should add a whole new layer of strategy to the game (I'm already thinking of how the counter to smoking can also be a risk of breaking cover or secrecy, as well as the smokes being placed in tighter rooms and chokepoints)

I can imagine now a custom map that starts filled with smoke and slowly gets cleared away by bullets/frags. Wish I had a computer that could handle this.

I've only ever played like one round of Counter-Strike as a child when my brother-in-law showed it to me.

I find SovietWomble's vids on it hilarious to watch.

Maybe one of these days I may actually play it. I enjoy games that high salt volumes, and Counter-Strike has a lot of that it seems.

Wait a minute isn't this supposed to be Counter-Strike... oh wait Valve can't count to 3.

While not as bad as it was before, the bot issue is still a problem on Valve servers on TF2. Community servers are the way to go if you really want to play it anymore.

The salt volume depends on the particular match, but it is possible to get a bunch of people shit-talking for fun. If you don't already play it, Dota 2 has a lot of those high-salt matches too lol.

Imagine Nuke, but A site, B site, Outside and Ramp all start with a cloud of smoke and players can buy up to 4 frags

Valve will never go public

TF2 players pissed that their 16 year old game isn't getting updates anymore

When Overwatch releases a "sequel," people are divisive on it. When Counter Strike does it, it's okay? How? I'm not defending OW2; I'm noticing that CS2 is just CS:GO rebuilt.

CS being a Valve game, with the Gabe Newell obsession that some people have (i.e. all the PRAISE LORD GABEN memes), Valve being considered to be the "ethical" company, compared to Activision Blizzard, Riot Games, Paradox, EA, Ubisoft, Sony, Nintendo, you name it, and Valve not being publicly traded, makes gamers give CS and Valve's other games a pass. They literally cream their pants whenever Valve adds a new CSGO skin case, or a new DOTA 2 Battle Pass, but whine and seethe when other games dare to even sell non-gameplay effecting cosmetics.

The main difference is no one asked for an Overwatch "sequel", while CS players have been asking for crucial improvements for years now. There have been some long overdue issues that were not being addressed, likely due to the limitations of an engine that is almost 2 decades old. Some of the changes we saw announced today are long-awaited changes, such as see-through smoke grenades and issues regarding low tick-rate and hit registration.

I would like to note that Valve is taking this opportunity to rebrand Counter Strike with this engine update. That is fine with me, but no one asked for that either, or to call the game "Counter Strike 2".
