Court rules against Rolling Stone in UVA "Jackie" rape story - Listen and Believe(tm)

A verdict has been returned in the Rolling Stone “Jackie” defamation case against Rolling Stone. The magazine, the publisher, and author Sabrina Rubin Erdely are all held liable for defamation against UVA.

Pussy pass denied, bitch. At least you can go and write for the Mary Sue now that Rolling Stone has fired your lying ass.

And Rolling Stone’s lawyers place the blame for this fiasco squarely where it belongs: on Jackie’s shoulders.

Scott Sexton, a lawyer for Rolling Stone, told the jurors in his closing statement that the magazine “acknowledges huge errors in not being more dogged. . . . It’s the worst thing to ever happen to Rolling Stone.”

Sexton said that in effect Erdely and Rolling Stone had fallen victim to what he called at points a “hoax,” a “fraud,” and a “perfect storm.”

The magazine’s editorial staff was no match for Jackie, Sexton said, noting that the magazine was not sure what exactly had happened to her, but admitted “she deceived us and we do know it was purposeful.”

“This young woman was very good at telling this story,” Sexton said. “Dean Eramo believed her. . . .Yet we are the ones being tried, in a sense, for having believed her.”

So much for supporting rape victims. Perhaps we shouldn’t Listen and Believe(tm) after all.

They're acting like this is some sort of huge fucking conspiracy against them, when in reality the record shows that they knew this story had a lot of holes in it, but they went ahead with it because it pushed a narrative that they liked.

I'm kind of enjoying these SJW media outlets getting picked off. Who's next?

Wikipedia has a really informative article on this entire case, if anyone's interested. I wasn't really aware of the case and was shocked to see just how widely disputed and repudiated it was.

Oh, and I love how "Jackie's" friends were all like "Yeah, she's full of shit." Major respect to them for caring about the truth and calling out Jackie when they realized she was full of it.

I like all of the whining about "this shouldn't damage our cause we should all believe the victims!"
This case is a huge wake up call. We should not always believe the victim. Everyone is entitled to their day in court, and people lie all the fucking time.

Also, 1 in 4 is a myth.
