I have the feeling she is at peace, free from any pain and suffering, and reunited with her sisters.
Thank you! 😿

Did you ever read the dinosaur angel comic?

Oh no, my feelings :,(

Absolutely they can. Different breeds have different temperaments, these are Scottish Highlands and are very docile and friendly. They eat out of my hand. They are pack animals though so they need companions. Cows actually make a best friend within their herd too.

Here's me annoying my dog:

We have a really docile 15-year-old female Black Lab. She's been suffering from progressively worsening osteoarthritis in her back ankles for years.

She's been on Meloxicam, an anti-inflammatory daily for 3 years. When she first started it, there was a noticeable improvement in her appetite (though she is a Lab after all).

She's definitely on her victory lap, but has always been healthy otherwise.

Our Black Lab suddenly took a turn for the worse yesterday and can no longer stand after being mobile and content (for her arthritic baseline) the day before.

She's still eating and drinking, and doesn't seem to be in any pain while at rest. But she can no longer support herself to relieve herself and had half a dozen accidents in the house.

The plan is to call the vet Monday morning.

I can't remember the last time I cried, but I'm a blubbering mess today.

I don't even remember crying when my dad and grandfather passed away over the last few years.

I'm not looking for Internet head pats.

But this hurts and is harder then I thought.

Sorry to hear about the lab. Just try to keep her as comfortable as possible til the vet appointment, and show her as much love as possible.

Its never easy when pets reach the end of their lives. Best you can do is try to keep them comfortable and follow the vets instructions.

A big dog reaching 15 years old shows she has been well cared for and loved her whole life.

My husband and I met our first stray cat in our neighborhood, and we decided to get her spayed since we both know how unwanted kittens can be.

And she's the sweetest cat I've ever met, even compared to our own group of weirdos. Her favorite activities are:
1. Kneading
2. Kneading people
3. Sleeping
4. Sleeping on people

We can't keep her, and we're looking for a forever home for her, but it ain't fair... There's gotta be some sweet old person out there who wants a nice lap cat.

She lives in my husband's office right now, and she doesn't mind. She just sleeps on his couch all day, then sometimes wanders around and kneads the carpet. If one of us sleeps on the couch, she cuddles against us, and reaches for our hands to keep petting her.

Even as I write this, she's laying against me, just enjoying it. I hope we can find her a nice home.

On the same note, she's helped.my husband realize why having a good relationship with the vet is important. He wanted to switch to someone closer, because our previous vet had left the clinic and the new one was bitchy to him. Well, the clinic we initially took this cat to refused to spay her while she was in heat, and then didn't respond to his calls afterward.

Our original vet clinic was confused, because it's easier to spay them while they're in heat (the organs are bigger apparently). But they gladly did it, and I didn't even see the bitchy vet.

I did see that they have a family of Canadian geese nesting around them, though. The goslings are all late-teens, but they're still cute as a family unit.

My mom happened to randomly hatch a frizzle chicken, and she knows it's a hen. I'm so jealous that I can't steal her, because it'll be really obvious if it's missing! But I just want to borrow her, put her with my favorite rooster, and then have my own set of goofy pinecones.

This isn't her hen, but it's how they look.

Sounds like the cat I just found. I live in a rural area and sometimes unwanted pets get dropped of near me. I just found a pregnant cat someone dropped off. She's super sweet and won't leave my side when I'm at home. I'm taking her to the vet later in the week to get her checked out. She seems like she's in good health just a bit starved. I'm gonna hate finding good homes for the kittens when they get here.

I know it's possible to spay pregnant animals, basically an abortion for cats/dogs. Not sure if there's a limit to how far along in gestation they can be though.

Some of the strays I've helped get fixed were pregnant. Better yeeting kitten fetuses than them growing up to be unwanted kittens doomed to short, miserable lives.

OSH! I adore them and have had them since 1999. My current one is a red lynx point boy who is the biggest baby, has to ride on my husband's shoulders since mine are too small, I have a picture of him in the dox your cat thread.
