Actually, I did that because
1. Erik once said he liked Garfield and Friends. (click on "Spoiler: Biography")
2. Wade (and to a better extent the other U.S. Acres characters) is lesser-known than Garfield himself, and he tends to use lesser-known characters from well-known franchises, like the kids from Care Bears and Molly Hale from Pokemon.
