Creationists - Jack Chick, Kent Hovind, etc.

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I always wonder about these people whose God acts like a game show host where you win if you hit the buzzer at the right time.
From my experience with them (my entire adult family believe this) it seems that the belief is roughly that god came up with a system to allow everybody to be saved. They rarely give any thought to the fact that it may be the worst possible system for actual deserving people to go to heaven.

One of the most fascinating things about Chick's interpretation of God is that He's actually bound by His own rules, despite being supposedly omnipotent. He frequently remarks about how He hates having to send people to Hell, but apparently He can't make the bar for Heaven more lenient. The most explanation Chick gives is something something animal sacrifice metaphor something something.

Ok. Are we talking about Dragons or Dinosaurs? Get your shit together chick.

And also, You would think if dinosaurs were still alive as the same time as humans, we would have at least something documenting it. Cave paintings, hieroglyphics, writings, Something!
Or half-digested dino-burgers in frozen cave-men's bellies.

He was trying to show that you can't buy your way into Heaven with good works, but he decides to use an elderly pair of missionaries to demonstrate that point.

Does Chick ever quoted James 2:14-26 in his tracts?

According to the born-again view, "No one is deserving because are all sinners (except Jesus)!"

He's still pissed about Adam and Eve, basically, and he doesn't want paradise to be impure from original sin.

Yeah, Hitler goes to heaven because he was Christian but Thomas Jefferson goes to hell because he was an unbeliever - welcome to Chick's interpretation of Christianity
Have you ever tried to bring this up to a Christian that believes this shit? Their heads explode trying to come to terms with somebody like Hitler getting a get out of hell free card.

It's pretty funny stuff.

According to Chick Hitler is definitely in hell. Not for killing millions of Jews, oh no. That bitch was Catholic.
Technically he'd be in hell for killing himself with cyanide regardless of what his religious affiliation was but that's not really the point. Had he converted to "proper" Christianity before he died and was killed by an enemy bullet then he'd be in heaven.

He could have repented at the very last instant. The actual underlying sin is that of despair, not the physical act of suicide.

Ah, Jack Chick. Everyone's favorite religious lolcow.

Believe it or not, the stuff you can't find on his site is crazier. I own a copy of a book he made to explain how the Catholic Virgin Mary stems from the universal mother goddess figure that itself came from ancient Babylon.

And how about the Alberto comics? It used to be you could read several of them on his site. No longer...

I have to say that Chick guy's stance on salvation through grave vis-a-vis works is confusing. If he's in favor of grace, what's with his homophobia? Is grace not enough to "excuse" homosexuals if it works for murderers and rapists?

Oh divine grace works for that too. See in Chick Christianity any sin is the equal of every other sin, so dancing, drinking, or having consensual sex with another man is the same as torturing children to death and eating the corpses. But it's cool, as long as you chant the magic spell he gives at the end of every track you're in the clear. So you can be as awful as you want and still get into heaven if you just say the spell.

I think Jack Chick takes the angle that, while technically, god is required to love you if you repent, it just happens to be extremely unlucky to be gay and you'll probably die before you repent. It sounds like god is forced to follow his own rules and love gays even though he doesn't want to, but he's
butthurt about that, so he still tries to set traps so they die young.

Jack Chick's conception of god is very bitchy.

His God is a jealous God. Like the cattiest of all catty gay guys.
