Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

Son of Sam tried something like that. Didn't work for him either.
His is funnier because he claimed to have been told by Satan to commit the murders, then said he was lying, then years later, he claimed that he was lying about lying and he was actually part of a country-wide Satanic cult who had members committing murders all over the place.

It's almost like he's a manlet jew fuck who is desperate to get out of prison. Weird.

Where the hell is Brandon Swanson?

His car got stuck at night so he wanted to walk to a nearby town, He talked to his father on the phone while walking until he said "Oh shit!" and then he disappeared forever.
I think he probably fell into some old forgotten well or other hole in the ground . It can be pretty hard to spot them even if you are looking for them. And he was traveling in dark and talking with his father on phone.

The thing that doesn't make sense to me is how he could be so far from where he thought he was.
Did his friends lie about how drunk he was because it sounds like he should have realised at some point in his driving that he wasn't where he was supposed to be.

My mom's former work place (an assisted living/nursing home) was once an early housing unit for the mentally unstable/murderers. There's a "ghost" of a girl that killed her family that likes to run up and down the 3rd floor and slam the kitchen doors. One of her co-workers yelled "KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF" and it stopped for a few nights. I'm not sure if there's a record out there for her name, but the workplace is by a former asylum so it's very plausible. Multiple workers experienced this as well. Didn't help that many old people died in there in present day. Many of them had unresolved family issues. I wouldn't be surprised if their souls are slow to pass on to either side.

Carl Robert Disch

Carl Robert Disch was a 26 year old physicist who disappeared in Antarctica in 1965. He went out from the radio building to the main building and just vanished. He was noticed missing within an hour. Search crews went out immediately but never found his body. Due to the Antarctic weather, he most likely died within a few hours and was covered by a snow drift. After his death, supposedly his favorite dog also mysteriously disappeared. In 1971, McMurdo Station, another Antarctic research base, received a transmission from someone claiming to be Carl Robert Disch who was still alive somewhere in Antarctica and very lonely.

Clearly he had some accident, died, and got snowed over. And then years later some morbid weirdo wanted to have some fun. Nobody normal ever goes to Antarctica. I wonder the kind of ghost stories they tell each other when the last flight goes out and they're all stuck in that frozen hellhole for months.

Gary DeVore

Gary DeVore was a Hollywood screenwriter who one day disappeared on his way home after finishing a script in 1997. A year later, he was found in his car under a bridge. His body was missing its hands, though hand bones were located "nearby" they were never conclusively proven to be his, and his laptop and gun were missing from the car. Police had previously searched this location shortly after he was declared missing and found nothing odd. They also concluded that for his car to crash in that location he would have had to drive 3 miles against oncoming traffic. Furthermore, his car had the headlights in the off position despite him going missing at night.

There is a documentary out there that alleges some CIA connection to DeVore's death. I haven't seen the documentary, but evidently he really did have some CIA contacts and the theory goes that his script contained certain evidence or allusions to nefarious CIA dealings in Panama. Seems insanely melodramatic and unlikely to me, but if anyone's seen the documentary tell us your thoughts.

Joyce Vincent

Joyce Vincent was an English woman who died around December 2003 but wasn't discovered until January 2006. She had gradually cut off her friends and family and wasn't currently employed so nobody noticed she was missing. Actually, at a certain point her family hired a private investigator and he found her location and they sent her conciliatory letters, but she was already dead by then and they took her lack of response as her wanting nothing to do with them. For the full two years that she was dead, her television and heating were on and her bills were partially paid through government agencies and automatic payments. Neighbors assumed her apartment was empty and nobody ever noticed anything amiss. Her apartment was near the dumpsters and so the smell of her decay was masked.

Her body was too decayed for cause of death to be determined. There wasn't any sign of foul play or suicide and it seems she was wrapping Christmas presents when she died. Guesses for her cause of death include peptic ulcer or asthma complications, both ailments she had, but the truth is unknown. Can you imagine living next door to someone whose corpse has been rotting for over two years?

There was a case in the UK, I want to say it was either Devon or Kent. A little blonde girl in 97 (?) left to take her neighbors dog for his walk. Dog was found later just chillin. Girl was found dead. They still don't know why she died and iirc never reveal how she died. I saw a clip of a taping of Crimewatch on YouTube. For the life of me I cannot remember the name.

IIRC, the most plausible theory is that she was having asthma attack, used the wrong inhaler, accidentally gave herself a heart attack, and died instantly.

As to living next door to a corpse that's been rotting for over two years, it's shockingly not that uncommon. There's been cases where bodies have been left rotting in their houses for decades, sometimes even with other living people still residing with them.

One of the most horrifying cases of this was of Rita Wolfensohn, a blind hoarder who's thought to have unknowingly lived with the corpse of her own son for over twenty years.

There was those brothers in NYC in the early to mid 1900's. Were both among the worst hoarders in the city. Both found long deceased years after.
They were the Collyer Brothers. The Down the Rabbit Hole guy did an excellent video on them before decided to become a vtuber.

But he talked to his father on the phone for 47 minutes while walking. And the father stated that he didn't sound drunk. So if he was indeed drunk then just a tiny bit. And after he said "Oh shit!" the call didn't end but Brandon was silent. Then the parents hung up and tried to call him again but he never answered.

If he fell into a hole or well he should have been found. Not only that but the parents would have heard it because they were still on the phone for a while after Brandon stopped talking. But there is nothing. No clothes, no shoes, no cellphone, no glasses, no car keys. He completely vanished.

Earlier in the thread, iirc, someone said that they were familiar with the area, and that the locals there generally believe that he slipped into the creek that ran by the side of the road, and since it was flooded, it carried him a fair way downstream while he fought it all the way. When he managed to drag himself out he was so exhausted that he passed out in a field, and a harvester ran over his unconscious body. Reporting the death would have meant coming clean about the farmhands being illegal immigrants, so his body was hidden and buried in a paddock. As for him being so wildly out of his way... people get lost, especially in rural areas at night, because it's so fucking dark out in the country and there aren't any roadmarks even if you could see them.

Carl Robert Disch
The general belief is that a polar bear got him. Many predatory attacks on humans leave little to no sign of what actually happened, and a polar bear is more than powerful enough to carry a human body for kilometres until it finds a suitable place to dine. The same bear would have got the dog too, when the dog was out trying to find its boss.

The Jamison Family (Dailymail)

In October 2009, Bobby Dale Jamison, his wife Sherilynn, and their six-year-old daughter Madyson disappeared while looking into a real estate purchase. A few days later, their truck was found which contains their phones, wallets, IDs, their malnourished dog, and $32,000. 4 years later, about 3 miles from where their truck was found, all 3 corpses of the Jamison family were found heavily decayed. Cause of death was not determined due to their great decomposition. Their deaths remain a mystery. Home surveillance footage of the day they left their house showed them walking around in a "trance" and putting a suitcase in the truck that was never found. A handgun was also missing.

Some time before their disappearance, friends claimed that the husband and wife started to act strange and lost considerable weight. They complained about ghosts in their house and the husband even asked his pastor if there were "special bullets" to shoot ghosts. At their home, there was a shipping container that had weird messages written on it including "3 cats killed to date buy people in this area … Witches don’t like there black cat killed." The wife's mother believes they were killed by a cult but provides no evidence. Another possible suspect is the husband's father who was violent and had a restraining order against him, but who was too weak and elderly to likely be behind such a thing.

The police, and my guess, believe drugs were involved, but no actual evidence of the Jamison's buying, selling, or using drugs has ever been discovered. But in general when you've got people talking about shooting ghosts, losing weight, and carrying around $32,000 with them in Oklahoma, the answer is drugs.

The general belief is that a polar bear got him.
A polar bear in Antarctica is an even bigger mystery than some dude getting snowed on.

Then why did his trace lead to the other side of the creek, then to a gravel road and then further north? Do the locals even know about this? I call bullshit.

Personally, my belief is that Charles Lechmere (aka Cross) deserves much more serious scrutiny.

YES. Thank you. I don't see people pointing at him nearly as much as he deserves...to me he is just a giant red glowing "X marking the spot"...all kinds of nearly impossible coincidences and red flags with this suspect.

You have his job, work route, days on and off and the locations he visited during those periods of time matching up nearly identically to the murders, along with the locations of both his and his mother's home. There's the victim he was discovered standing over in the street by another early morning passerby and, how, when the two men went to grab a constable, the evidence later proved Lechmere lied to that officer by saying that there was already another constable at the scene with the body...pacifying any curiosity or suspicions of himself while at the same time cleverly concealing his identity as the first one to discover the body...and out of happenstance, when that constable finally arrived at the reported body, another one had already discovered it on his patrol and so his presence there satisfied the conditions of Lechmere's report and nothing appeared unusual to the respondant...there are just so many of these little quirks to examine and identify with the evidence surrounding this suspect.

And of course there is the name discrepancy at the inquest, the only explanation for which being that...he was clearly attempting to obfuscate his identity in relation to these killings on public records and at that very inquest. I don't see how any of the other suspects even come close in terms of the evidence. Most of them seem like guesses at best, but with Lechmere you seem to have some very serious and deliberate abnormalities present.

I concur. That was during the peak of the bathtub crank days when there were all kinds of small-time manufacturers all throughout rural areas. That explains all the crazy stuff they said and the weight loss. They might have manufactured it far away from home which is why there wasn’t any evidence at home. Lots of people ended up dead trying their hand at it and pissing off either rival drug dealers, a crazy crank user, or cartels. I saw a lot of those types of stories in my neck of the woods. Banning pseudoephedrine stopped a lot of it and the cartels have gained considerable traction in the US, putting an end to most of these small time manufacturers. Anyone who tries will find out really quickly that the cartels run this shit now.
