Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

That's fantastic news. I was convinced that this would go completely unsolved.

Poor lass would have grown up to be a stunner. Look at those eyes!

I always thought it was the man who lived across/down the street from her who was her grandmother's friend or something. There was a theory that she was trying to walk over there to see grandma/grandma's friend because he'd been at the party earlier, and he was a shady fuck who then murdered her. It seemed the simplest and most plausible explanation for her disappearance that I'd seen.

On October 14th, 1993, a mother of four named Nelda Louise Harding departed from her Lake Charles, Louisiana home. She left behind a note saying she had gone to the store and would be back shortly. She never returned and Nelda's boyfriend reported her missing the following day.

On May 8th, 1998, a group of teenagers driving in Hancock County, Mississippi struck what they believed to be a deer sometime between two and three in the early morning. At around 11:00 AM, a truck driver discovered a woman's body near the scene of the collision.

An autopsy revealed that the woman had been in poor health prior to her death. In addition to the fatal injuries she had suffered when the car struck her, her lungs were full of mucus as a result of chronic bronchitis and emphysema, she was covered in bug bites, and cysts on her ovaries indicated that she had contracted parasites after eating spoiled or otherwise contaminated food. Her hair had been dyed and her fingernails and toenails were dirty and uneven. There were no drugs or alcohol in her system. She had a Cesarean section scar and had given birth at least twice. Because the woman was unidentified , she was buried in a pauper's grave in a local cemetery.

In 2013, the Hancock County coroner began an investigation to identify the Jane Doe. He eventually contacted Nelda Harding's family, who identified the woman as Nelda based off a photo taken of the body. In addition to the similarities in their appearance, Nelda and the woman both had missing teeth and ears that were not pierced. The coroner claimed that there was only a "one in a thousand chance" that the woman was not Nelda, and that he believed Nelda had been held captive for the duration of her disappearance and her death on the highway was the tragic result of an escape attempt. However, it's possible that the woman's condition was due to her being homeless and not receiving any healthcare.

The woman's grave was exhumed in order for DNA to be extracted, but all hopes for identification were dashed when the coffin was opened to reveal a man's body. Because of poor record keeping and the graveyard sustaining damage during Hurricane Katrina, it is unlikely that the woman's actual grave will ever be located and her body positively identified. She may be another missing woman named Faye Aline Self, but a serial killer claims to have murdered Faye and disposed of her body elsewhere.

Though Nelda's family believes she is Hancock County Jane Doe, officially her case remains unsolved.

It’s only a little creepy because of the great paintings but it’s a mystery I’m fascinated by mostly because it’ll never be completely solved due to The passing of time.

The Secret is a treasure hunt created by Byron Preiss. The hunt involves a search for twelve treasure boxes, the clues to which were provided in a book written by Preiss in 1982, also called The Secret. These boxes were buried at secret locations in cities across the United States and Canada that symbolically represent events and peoples that played significant roles in North American history. Anyone who uncovered one of the treasure boxes was entitled to exchange it with Preiss for a precious gem; after Preiss died in 2005, his estate assumed the responsibility of honoring the terms of the treasure hunt. As of 2024, only three of the twelve boxes have been found. Preiss kept no record of the treasure boxes' exact locations before his death, leaving it a possibility that the remaining boxes may never be recovered.

To date they’ve found the ones in Chicago, Cleveland, and Boston. There’s probably one in San Francisco, definitely one in Milwaukee.

Six-year-old Morgan Nick disappeared on June 9th, 1995, after attending a Little League game in Alma, Arkansas. She went to catch fireflies with friends near the baseball field and never returned.

Witnesses told police that they saw a man watching Morgan that night and provided a description of both him and his vehicle. On June 9th and 10th, a man matching that description attempted to abduct two local girls. He was driving a vehicle that matched the description of the one seen the night Morgan disappeared.

In 2021, Billy Jack Lincks was named a person of interest in the case. He died in prison in 2000 while serving a sentence for sexual solicitation of a child. He was questioned by investigators back in 1995 when he attempted to abduct a girl three months after Morgan's disappearance and only a few miles away from where she vanished.

Today police announced that Lincks is officially considered a suspect in Morgan's case. Strands of blonde hair found in his vehicle matched a DNA sample provided by Morgan's mother Colleen, who became an advocate for missing children after her daughter vanished. The vehicle also contained green fibers that matched the Girl Scouts shirt Morgan was wearing and trace amounts of blood too small to test for DNA.

The area where Morgan went missing from experienced flash flooding on the night of her disappearance, hindering the immediate investigation and potentially destroying evidence. Authorities continue to investigate Morgan's case and she remains listed as missing person.

So a random videya came up on my recommendations, about a young man called Noah Presgrove who was found dead beside the side of the road on September the 4th, 2023. He'd spent the last few days attending a rager with a group of friends in rural Oklahoma, and as with many other occasions involving teenagers and copious amounts of alcohol, at some point something went terribly wrong... but what exactly went wrong is rather mysterious.

Thoughts?
I think he got his ass beat during one of the parties, the ass kickers went too far, said “oh shit” and dumped his body off at a remote area in the country.

Some absolutely weird shit happens in those multiday extreme parties some of us had in our late teens and early 20s. Generally any party that lasts more than a day is going to be insane.

Has Jennifer kesse been mentioned ?

Vanished into thin air one morning, only one poi who is seen on cctv, but manages to be basically hidden by the fence he walks past after dropping her car off at a neighbouring housing complex.

Oh hey, I remember this one. I think that speculation is that the foreign workers renovating the complex murdered her and disposed of her body by hiding it in renovation debris taken to the dump. The fact that the language barrier is sited as making it hard to interrogate the workers is suspect as hell. If nothing else, coppers could be brought in from their company of origin, along with professional translators to be certain that the foreign coppers were doing their jobs.

It seems pretty obvious what happened to poor Jennifer. It's really only a matter of "who" rather than "what". It was definitely a targeted attack by people who'd planned in advance, because they knew that any valuables taken from the scene could be used to track them.

Do you think any of the “known” suspects are the poi or involved?

I find it intriguing that the car re appears less than a hour after the family call her complex asking them to do a wellness check/look for her car etc, also that it appears just a mile from her home

Sooo... anyone watched this one yet?

It's always confused the hell out of me (and many other people) why the police stopped searching for Dean Corll's victims at body 27, even though there were a lot more young men and boys that had gone missing and there were more places connected to Corll that were not searched at all.

Guess we know why they stopped looking now.

I have good one for this thread but apologies beforehand for mobilefaggotry. Also keep in mind before looking this up that its all around very gruesome.

Cleveland Torso Murders/Butcher of Kingsbury Run.

This case involves a main suspect, deranged veteran called Dr. Francis Edward Sweeney, he was in the trenches of the Great War as a medic/surgeon and got grievously injured during a gas attack while working in a unit that does amputations. He had 13 confirmed victims, all of them butchered to pieces but probably killed way more than that.
Legendary Elliot Ness tried capturing him for years but politics got in the way of justice because Sweeney was closely related to Ness's main political rival Congressman Martin L. Sweeney. Officially the killer remains unidentified and case is to this day wide open.

Killings stopped when Ness ordered the tear down of Kingsbury Run shantytown (this killed his career but saved many future victims) and Sweeney was locked up in a mental institution, untill the end Sweeney kept tormenting Ness with insane letters. Many consider Ness himself as the last victim of Cleveland Torso Murderer because he coped with trauma and fallout from this case by slowly drinking himself to death. Below are some of the letters that Ness received and i'll add a very good read on the topic.

I didn't know this one was basically solved and I'm from Cleveland. I went with the theory that whoever the killer was also did the Black Dahlia murder

Yeah its actually sad how the congressman Sweeney basicly torpedoed case when Ness had him, it was really fucking close. Ness even used his Chicago contacts from untouchables days to bring in the co-inventor of polygraph test, Leonard Keeler who said after tests that Francis Sweeney is guilty. They had to sober him up for three days before interrogating and polygraph testing because Sweeney was such a heavy drinker and all kinds of fucked up.

That Black Dahlia connection comes from this ballsy letter:

Well now, i actually have a rare update that i had somehow missed. Earlier this year some of the remaining unkown victims, including the tattooed man who was found beheaded near the railroad tracks were exhumed. Their goal is identifying atleast 1-3 victims. I'll update when we get more deets.

I am thoroughly aware that this is fake. Still very effective though, especially watching it in the dark at 2am:

Said it before, will say it again, there are things in this world that do shit that results in stories that are almost exactly like this fake video. I have no doubt in my mind they exist, but there are mundane explanations for it, too.
