Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

Wait is this the same Ness that Robert Stack portrayed?!
Yes its the same man, untouchable Elliot Ness could nail down Capone but mad butcher of Kingsbury Run was the true final boss of his story. Guy had a really interesting career for sure.

The Untouchables movie was awesome btw. :D

Isn't this the one Kurt Eichenwald was involved in and totally didn't watch/pay a 13 year old to strip and fuck?
Yes.

Note: CounterPunch is an extreme far-left magazine, but both of these are genuinely excellent and well sourced investigative journalism based strictly on the actual record. Kurt Eichenwald is a piece of shit.

A shame that guy died in Mexico. Probably a contract hit, and they'll never find his remains, which makes it all the more terrifying.

How about the Springfield Three? Three women who all went missing in Missouri. That answering machine clue.....a missed opportunity.

My favorite D.B. Cooper theory is the one featured in the movie Without a Paddle. That theory being that he got severely injured when he landed, and then unable to make it back to civilization, just died in the woods.
Most likely this is what happened. Jumping at night in the woods during the rain, even the trained pro would have had hard time landing in one piece.

I think they did identify the guy, and one of the great mysteries of the 20th Century has been solved. I just found out that I really enjoyed having something to wonder about. the parachute information is convincing.

McCoy is (probably) the real McCoy this time. A "Citizen Sleuth" helped, so that's going to make those particular nutballs even worse.

I will say this. If they're not from a copycat, then we almost certainly know the Ripper's true identity: Charles Allen Lechmere.

Massive tl;dr: Lechmere was a van driver who in the last few decades has become a highly popular candidate for the Ripper's real identity. This is for several reasons, and while almost all of them are circumstantial, all of them being purely coincidental would require him to be one of the unluckiest people ever, especially if he's also not the Thanes Torso Killer.

It's suspicious that Charles Lechmere gave a false name. Or rather his stepfather's surname of Cross even though he had never used it himself. The differing accounts of the two witnesses could be down to them both being late for work. Lechmere might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The other witness thought Mary Nichols was still breathing and wanted to sit her up. But Lechmere refused. The article says that neither of them realised that her throat was cut so deaply that she was nearly decapitated.

Mary Kelly's murder is horrific. A pile of flesh on the table. Blood splattered everywhere. She was horrible mutilated and flayed. It takes a real sick bastard to do something like that.

I'm pretty sure exactly this happened. It's not the most interesting theory but it certainly explains everything neatly. It also explains that found money ($5,800) next to the river. Maybe he literally just dropped into the river, hit hard, and either died on the spot or drowned.
