Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

It's summarised pretty succinctly on Wikipaedo. His parents' marriage was ruined by his mother's persistent delusions that his father was drugging her, poisoning her, and having wild affairs with women who somehow turned to vapour an instant before she could catch them.
Weren't both his father and mother of the "throw money at him" persuasion as well? Everything he needed was paid for to keep up appearances, but his whole family refused to keep him on meds or in a hospital because that was too embarassing?

Today is the seventh anniversary of the disappearance of Georgie Gharsallah, a 30 year old mother of two from Worthing, UK.

Georgina was seen on CCTV at a shop near her home on the morning of March 7th, 2018 and vanished shortly afterwards, being seen once more on CCTV with an unknown woman at about 4p.m. the same day. She was close to her parents and stayed in frequent contact with them, and her disappearance was fairly out-of-character; she had made plans to meet with her father during the day on the 7th, but never showed up for this meeting. A murder inquiry was launched in August 2019 but despite lots of local press and several arrests, no trace of Georgina has ever been found.

The town rumour mill has suggested the usual everything from drugs to sex-trafficking, but nothing concrete has so far been confirmed. A fair few people locally thought she may have been concealed on the site of a derelict car park near to where she was last seen but if this is the case the subsequent redevelopment of the site did not reveal her remains. Additionally, the town is bordered by the South Downs National Park, where concealing a body might also be possible. Very few think Georgina disappeared voluntarily, although this too has been posited.

Donal MacIntyre's podcast Missing Murdered Unsolved covered the case in some detail in 2022, interviewing her mother and others connected to the investigation at length but didn't manage to make any headway. The season is worth a listen for anybody wanting a deeper dive on this.

I lived locally for many years and for me the creepiest part of this was that her missing posters would frequently be town down within a day or two of being put up; although flimsier at first, eventually the family would laminate the posters and zip-tie them to lamp posts and within the week they'd all have been ripped back down again during the night — I personally saw this cycle happen four or five times in the two years I stayed living there after her disappearance. I have no idea if they've since found out who was doing this, but it gave me the willies.

Drugs and violence are not unheard of in West Sussex, and she was known to frequent some less than salubrious parts of town in the years before her death with people who were not exactly upstanding members of society. Over 70 sightings of Georgina were reported in the year or two following her disappearance, but none were conclusively proven to be of her. Personally, I think it's more likely that she is dead than trafficked or voluntarily missing, and that there's a good chance false sightings were called in by whoever was ripping down the posters.

Whatever happened to her, I hope her parents, siblings and kids get some answers one day.

I haven't seen it mentioned in the thread and not 100% sure it qualifies, but I thought the way they seem to have solved this was so interesting.
In 1958, a family, including the mother, father, and three daughters, went missing. The family was from Portland, and they were driving to the mountains for a Christmas tree, they never made it home. Many people seemed to think their adult estranged son was involved, although he was across the country then.

A year after they went missing, a boat got their anchor stuck on something in the Columbia River and dragged it along a bit. Shortly after that, the bodies of the youngest two daughters were discovered washed up on the shore. Investigators found tire tracks going into the river that matched their car, but despite their search efforts, they never located it.

Until this guy, Archer Mayo. Mayo was determined to find the car, and the lengths he went to are wild, he built models of the river, dived and mapped it out meticulously. It's so interesting, he explains it here:

And yesterday, he found the car, which was identified by the license plate. They haven't been able to pull it out yet, it's buried and they have to dredge it out.

Edit so as not to double post, the car fell apart as they were lifting it out of the water. It sounds like a lot of things went wrong. The crane they brought in wasn't working on the first attempt, and then they had complications when it turned out there were several other cars in the same area. The Martin's car was full of debris, which was too heavy for the frame to support, they managed to get the engine out, but so far no remains.

Here's a great video debunking most of the Missing 411 bullshit.
It's pretty sad when a youtuber does more thorough research than an entire production company.
I enjoyed Missing 411 the first time I heard it on Coast to Coast AM but by the second show I realized it was all just grift. Dudes inability to just say what he thought was going on killed me.

He doesn't say specifically what he thinks it is, because he thinks that it's Bigfoot and knows that as soon as says it out loud, it's all over.

It's not always interdimensional bigfoot, it's also wild men living deep in the national parks of the southeast US. And don't forget the bullshit, "The feds wanted to charge me $2 million for a FOIA request about missing people in national parks!!!!". Yeah, no shit, FOIA requests aren't cheap and when you ask for the files of EVERY missing person from EVERY national park over the last fifty years it's going to cost a fortune. Paulides is a grifter like most guests of the Snorey Noory era of Coast 2 Coast AM.

I feel like half the missing persons cases could be easily solved if the missing person was conceal/open carrying. The other half (probably more) just wonder off trail and succumb to the elements or they get lured by bigfoot to be raped.

When I look at the Delphi Murders those two girls would probably still be alive if they were packing glocks.
I would never let my daughter go hiking alone or even with a friend without being strapped.

there's no excuse if you're a big hiking outdoors guy that lives in the the states and doesn't pack heat it just doesn't make any sense to me.

People don't drill and might be aware that a tool they can barely use belongs to their enemy. Additionally, a shitload of people (especially women) would be in the "what are you gonna do with that? yeah, nothing, that's what I thought" category even if given a free gun and taken to the range every week to practice. That's aprt of why a draft doesn't work, if little bitches get drafted they'll miss enemy combatants on purpose.

So this had to be a male in drag prostitute that got killed by their client after they found out they were male?

"Around July 6, 1988, she was arrested in Lexington, Kentucky, on one charge of prostitution"

Bingo

"DNA Doe Project volunteers Lee and Anthony Redgrave founded the Trans Doe Task Force to advocate for unidentified victims who were transgender or gender non-conforming. The pair voiced concern that genetic genealogy research may reveal a decedent's birth and/or legal name but may not provide what title the individual preferred during life. One of the task force's goals is to research, following an identification, how the subject identified to prevent deadnaming"

Lmao fucking clownworld. I bet you the only reason this freak got identified is because of modern politics.

I'm not gonna talk shit about Walton until further details about his life come out. From what little we know so far, his story just sounds like most other Does', so there's not really much reason for me to do so yet. Now if it gets out that he was a terrible person, then yeah. But so far, there's no reason for me to make fun of a guy who was murdered, dumped in a swamp, and then unidentified for over thirty years.

However, I will say that the whole concern over deadnaming a John or Jane Doe is fucking retarded as it could easily lead to Does' loved ones not knowing they've been identified, and thus continue their suffering.

I don't understand why we waste time and resources on identifying dead hookers. That's doubly so for dead trannies, no one cares if a tranny gets killed. How about focusing on identifying and finding dead and missing children and adults who people actually loved?

Because unfortunately hookers, and the like are often the ones who make up the bulk of unidentified people. Furthermore, it's this same mentality that often leads to serial killers getting away with it for so long ,and thus eventually hurting people other than hookers.

Also, because like it, or not, these people do have loved ones who do want to know what happened to them. I'm sure Walton's family wasn't happy he trooned out, but I'm sure they're at least happy to finally have some closure.

And until we know the full story, he may very well have not wanted to cross dress, but he was desperate and picked up more clientele that way. Not excusing that, of course, but there are many reasons for a corpse to be wearing the clothing of the opposite sex.

Even if your kid or parent or whatever did troon out and start street walking for a fetish, knowing that they're dead is an answer. Like you said, closure.
