There are some fans on Tumblr that take their favorite characters a bit too seriously. And then there's Cronusamporaa, or CAA.

CAA is both a total fanboy, as well as batshit insane. His particular interests include Homestuck, the specific character Cronus Ampora, and harassing people that dare diss his precious alien child. For some perspective, Cronus Ampora is one of the douchiest characters in the entire webcomic. He constantly guilt trips people in an attempt to get them to have sex with him, and at one point, gives one character a "friendly shoulder touch" and continues to do so even after that character tells him to stop. Repeatedly.

This particular moment in the comic is pivotal for CAA. See, this guy is convinced that his favorite character can do no wrong. If you believe there to be some rape-y undertones to that scene and vocally express your opinion, you will be viciously attacked by CAA. And god forbid you write/draw something based on that interpretation of Cronus.

CAA will not tolerate something tarnishing the name of his favorite character. Someone draws fanart of Cronus being the douchebag he is? CAA will harass that person to the end of the Earth. Such was the fate of one poor blogger, whose unfortunate encounter with CAA is chronicled here.

Tumblr user Vastderp also plays an important role in this story. CAA, as well as his friend Vantas-sea, decided to create a personal vendetta against said blogger. What came about as a result has to be seen to be believed: Baby's First Rape Fantasy.

Really, going through Vastderp's entire tag for CAA is a wild ride in and of itself, but that takes the cake. All Vastderp did was make a post about Cronus and tagging it with... Cronus's name. That was all it took to make CAA smite Vastderp with his autistic wrath.

The best part of all this? CAA has been dragging this debacle on for two whole years. Now I shall let you all revel in this horrible trainwreck of a person.

I've been following this case since the beginning, and it really is quite the tale. But @fishercat, you have forgotten the best part:

As fishercat mentioned, Cronus is...uh, not exactly known for respecting people's boundaries. While the "friendly shoulder massage" he gives Mituna isn't explicitly sexual, it's framed in a manner very, very similar to sexual abuse, and given his character (he'd be a good candidate for the loveshy forum if he were a real person), the similarity was pretty blatantly intentional. So of course, what does CAA think Cronus values?

And say what you will about VastDerp and his methodology (he can definitely be immature), but it's kind of amazing the fallout the initial incident spawned.

Shit, I forgot about that. There were a couple of artists he's attempted to smear over the past three years (!) and that's his usual modus operandi. Make up charges, embellish with half-truths, promote as reality, send anons. He's not even getting paid minimum wage for this shit.

Oh God, yeah, I remember that. I think it was mostly CAA, but I could be wrong.

I did have one encounter of my own with VS, though surprisingly neither of them have come after me much besides that. Considering that I have a pretty strong dislike for Cronus and am not exactly subtle about it, that's kind of surprising, but eh. Can't remember if I mentioned the specific incident on the farms or not (I feel like I might have).

The TL;DR of that situation is that Paradox Space (which is a Homestuck spinoff thing, consisting largely of one-shot AU scenarios) ran a comic called Damara in late October, as a Halloween special of sorts. I won't go into boring details about the plot and such, since that's not relevant, but what's important is that it's strongly implied (practically stated) that Cronus attempted to rape someone (the titular Damara).

Now, while this particular comic was quite explicitly non-canon, it was still very much in-character for Cronus, which drove the Cronus stans nuts. And since Damara happens to be one of my favorite characters in the comic, I wound up a bit involved in the ensuing drama (read: there's three fucking pages worth of bullshit on my Tumblr about this fucking AU comic, what the fuck). Most of said drama involved debates over whether the comic's non-canon nature meant it was something Cronus would actually do, and since I was pretty emphatically in the camp that said "yes, Cronus is absolutely rapist material," vantas-sea obviously had to bitch about how ~*wrong*~ I was:

This was said by Andrew Hussie's author avatar within the comic shortly after Cronus was introduced.This is the same comic that contains sadistic, homicidal clowns and the little ball of pure evil that is Caliborn. And yet very few people will question that Cronus is the worst character. Not even the author himself will stand up for Cronus, and the character was pretty much designed to be a total egotistical sleazeball and hated by everyone.

Though judging by this guy's behaviour it's not so much that they're trying to defend Cronus's honour, but that they see this gross, sexually-abusive asshole as a kindred spirit and try to make excuses for him because oops, being like that doesn't tend to make people like you.

...Though actually, I might be wrong. Clearly we're all reading Homestuck wrong and that Cronus is a nice, sweet individual that would never hurt anyone.

You know that South Park episode where David Blaine or whoever wins the Biggest Douche In The Universe award and a literal enormous douche gets second place? Because replace David Blaine with Cronus and it pretty much becomes Homestuck canon.

...Also, who wants to bet CAA thinks he's a snake because he's a ~*dark misunderstood Slytherin*~ or what have you. Like, until I get any other evidence, that will be my theory and I'll stick with it.

Eh, as someone who's been very active in the fandom for a pretty long time (five years), there's not a lot in terms of notable drama going on nowadays, and a lot of the HS fandom's lolcows have either moved on to other fandoms (Steven Universe is a big one there) or are generic dime-a-dozen Tumblrinas.

There was some drama last fall over bad convention behavior, which the fandom is sadly known for in part due to the relatively low average age of Homestuck fans, but that's honestly the last really lulzworthy thing that I can remember from the fandom at large. And most of the individual lolcowish fans are easily covered by other threads here.

If it were still 2012 or so I'd say go for it, but as it is there's not much left to milk. In a lot of ways, I think CAA et al. are kind of the last major lolcows of the Homestuck fandom.

But CAA just turns Cronus into a weird self-insert and frantically sticks his fingers in his ears and screams if anyone tries to point out that he's being ridiculous. It's taking fanon to a whole new level.

For all people complain about "your fave is problematic" shit on Tumblr, I'd way rather see people accept the issues with their chosen media and fandom interests rather than whitewash them relentlessly. It's okay to have interests that aren't perfectly ethical, deep, or intelligent, but it's infuriating to act like these things are perfectly okay or valuable just because you like them. (Ask me about my ex and terrible prog rock! Better yet, don't.)

This level of Homestuck character obsession is kind of beautiful in its complete obliviousness, though. This is a fandom where the author is incredibly open about jerking his fans around and making completely unlikable characters, and yet in 2015, someone is still insisting that even the most unlikable of these characters is secretly lovable. I was a Cronus Ampora fangirl (and for a while, I was kind of borderline crazy (like claiming to be married to him and all of that bullshit when I was like an idiotic teenage fangirl). However, even though I still like Cronus Ampora, at least I was aware of his faults and I moved on from that silly crush to say the least. This kid (CAA), however, is fucking ridiculous.

Yeah, I'll admit I tend to like and relate to characters that aren't exactly on the moral highground and gotten shat on by the fandom because of this (hell I've gotten death wishes before). Well before Homestuck was ever a thing I might add. However the fandom (UC Gundam) is kind of notorious for getting their panties in a bunch over anyone who has an opinion that differs from the norm, plus I try to at least mention that I realize these characters (and thus myself) are extremely flawed and kind of worst case scenarios if what I couldve become. I also try to poke fun at the characters and myself often, because let's face it animu characters aren't that serious of business.

But yeah, I'm not a homestack but even I see Chronus is a creep. I'll admit that I like to hear out anyone who relates to unconventional characters and try to be tolerant even if I don't understand it, but this kid does seem to push it to uncomfortable levels. Do they ever admit to being fucked up and heavily faulted them self?

Also, she mentions people white knighting Vriska but hating on Chronus and implying its hypocritical. This kind of thing does actually happen (again UCfags are pretty infamous for it), but aren't Vriska white knighters also regarded as fucked up by large chunks of the fandom? Sounds like its a situation where white-knighting either character is wrong.
