This thread is for discussing all currently active crowdfunding campaigns on Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other equivalents. Talk about ones you think are cool or ones you think are gay, as long as they're actively gathering money.

For example: there's a new Action RPG in the vein of Valkyrie Profile and the Tales games called Indivisible. She has seven days left to meet her goal, and I hope she does.

How about you, Kiwis?
 
Interested in backing Indivisble but feels their campaign could have been better managed as using Indiegogo, asking for that quantity of money and outright saying it is not to be made if it is not funded made me more cautious.

Crowdfunding in general, I had mostly good experiences. The only project with drama were I donated has been Mighty No9.
 
So this is gonna sound kinda weird, but how many dollars out of the 1.6m they have already collected would belong to people who are trying to spite #GamerGate seeing as how people who support it tend to be among the biggest critics of his project?

I know most of it probably doesn't come from it, but it started to nag at me after seeing enough 'TRUE GAMERS DON'T SUPPORT #GOOBERGAYS' posts.
 
I heard that about half of what has been given to Psychonauts 2 actually came from investors rather than gamers, but that's still a couple hundred thousand dollars for a man who has a spotty record with crowdfunding. Spacebase pretty much just stopped, Broken Age had to be split in two (and even then, the second act reuses a lot of assets from the first), the things I pick up about Massive Chalice are more mixed than not...

I'm honestly wondering whether that's Stockholm Syndrome at play here, especially after it leaked that they planned Psychonauts 2 with at least 18 million dollars in mind.
 
I was kind of reticent to support Indivisible because Tumblr kept promoting it primarily based on the ~diversity~ of the cast, with the actual gameplay pushed aside.

That said, I'm glad they reached their goal!
 
I actually don't mind Tim Schaffer making Psychonauts 2, is just that his past crowdfunding shitshows and his behavior during GG controversies makes me wary of give him crowfunding money, specially since he shills fig as "true investor" crowfunding platform (and forgets Broken Age outbuget or Spacebase debacle). Sorry, I'm not interested in investing in you or buying your game before is made. By the looks of it, doesn't seem to need my money in any case.
 
So it looks fun. Never played skullgirls tho.

Lead voice sounds like Constance Wu. Petition to have her replace Wu in the CRA films?
 
In terms of crowdfunding, what grinds my gears is the influx of Patreon westernmade porn games. most of them are unpolished turd of a mess of rpg, and they still get around 1000-50000usd per month on Patreon. And what is really infuriating is that most if not all of them will be abandoned by 1 or 2 years because the creator is an idiotic feature creep that keeps adding useless features or making the game have too much scope.

what is more infuriating is that the Japanese made doujin porn games are miles better and only recently start to make money stateside because of steam. The people rather support western porn games with dubious quality and with people working on it with very dubious working ethic and not buy the hentai games on steam.

Steam banning some jap hentai games are also infuriating but that is a rant for another day
