Are CRTs based and redpilled?

Very cool. I remember how amazing CP'77 looked on the CRT first time I tried it. The 'depth' and 'plasticity' of the crosswalk surfaces were staggering, compared to what they looked like on an LCD.

BTW, does your monitor have something similar to my Samsung's MagicBright? That's a function that makes the screen brighter in a similar way to HDR. It leaves pure black at its level but raises the rest, making lights very bright (up to around 300 nits) and the whole picture very contrasty.

Don't think so. I'm using a 240hz TN panel Zowie monitor with DyAc+. In short, it's a thing where they strobe the backlight on and off, kind of imitating how a CRT works, it really helps with ghosting. As far as LCDs go, it's the most responsive I've seen. I haven't really messed with picture settings anymore after I set them up the way I like them.

Previously, I had some Asus 240hz monitor but certain FPS games were giving me motion sickness on it. After I got the CRT I made that my main monitor for playing FPS games, but after I got the Zowie I made that my main monitor for everything.

Edit: Wait I'm an idiot, were you asking that about the CRT? If so I have no idea since I don't remember its settings at all, but most likely no.

Just got myself a Dell Trinitron, I didn't realize how high the resolution could be on these, it's absolutely beautiful in person 😊

Been experimenting with software BFI lately. It really improves clarity by a lot on an OLED. Now I want that on the driver level since the few software BFI tools out there are quite janky.

I had no idea that you can do that with just third party software, interesting!
I'll have to check its settings after I set it up again some time next week.
I forgot to reply, I checked, no such thing on my dell crt.

You can, although it hasn't been very stable. Crashes the NVidia every now and then. Also, it doesn't work with VRR, and it may or may not work with DSC.

Man, I just moved, and hauling this 36" WEGA Trinitron from place to place is starting to get old. Since I actually own this house I'm hoping It will stay put now for the rest of time. What's even crazier is that I actually use my 13" Panasonic VCR combo way more than this giant. The Trinitron sure is pretty though.

How did people with epilepsy use CRTs? Are CRTs inherently ableist because they can kill epileptics?

CRTs don't flash that strongly. Your persistence of vision just makes it look like a screen, especially at 60Hz. It is my understanding that only specific combinations of colors and patterns cause seizures which is why it wasn't discovered until the "Pokémon Shock" in the 90s. The removal of all flashing from media is just panicky CYA BS.

Played it on steam deck with crt during christmas. Ran like shit but was suprisingly pleasing to play in complete darkness. Sadly that pos game doesn't support 4:3 aspect ratio.

A PS3 and a Jellyfin server is the best way to watch movies & TV through a CRT. I've got a standard 30 inch late 90's set, and the PS3 can even play IPTV channels off the server. Paired with a DTV tuner, and it's all you'll ever really need.

Absolute bastard to take a picture of, but here's my set up. The Jellyfin server shows up as a DLNA media server and a list of folders with the TV shows.
