Just got done reading this Article and holy fuck does this make me MAHIG; the king of france Louis XIII was sexually abused by both men and women and enough in the presence of people that HIS DOCTOR wrote accounts of it. What hope is there of ending the scourage of pedophiles once and for all if CSA has remained constant through out the ages?

Also general discussion of historical noncery and nonces getting their comeuppance, preferably from academic sources.

Pedophiles getting any kind of retribution is more of a modern concept. Historically you either have pure indifference or even support for it. It took until the post industrial revolution for children to even gain basic human rights in the west. It used to be perfectly legal to make them work in coal mines or dangerous factories, they weren't really considered people at all and I doubt much of anything would happen to people who abused them unless you killed them in the process.

Funny you mention king Louis being sexually abused; french nobles being pedophiles was among one of many things that painted the French nobility in a dehumanizing enough light that it kicked off the revolution leading to their ultimate demise. Well, that and many other factors but being painted as pedophiles on top of being fat greedy pigs and out of touch sociopaths isn’t going to go in your favour.

I’d have to go dig up some old history books that I had in my university days, but I recall reading in them that the only way someone could get away with being a kiddie diddler was by having wealth and/or power back in ye olden days.

For all I know, it’s possible that I misinterpreted something I read in those books.

Going back to the French Revolution, one of the things Marie Antoinette was accused of sexually abusing her young son, which was false but it managed to elicit more outrage against her.

Source One could argue that she was already in deep shit by this point, but accusing her of being a pedo committing incest would do the trick of making her seem worse than she already did in the eyes of the mob.

It's also important to note that while the age of consent was lower historically, the concept of pedophilia and it being evil was still there, hence why there were ages of consent to begin with. Anyone who tries to argue that it was socially acceptable, at least in the West, several hundred years ago ignores that fact. Yeah, younger people could marry or be married, but there were still age limitations, and breaking those - and becoming a pedophile - was a damning thing that got universal scorn. Nobody ever thought it was okay, they just had a different age metric for it (which was still disagreed with frequently even back then, like in the example above).
