CSGO, TF2 and other games had their source codes leaked

I still don't know how Tyler McVicker doesn't have a thread here, his life is a downward spiral of egomania and failed aspirations.

Source code is the original code of said game, right?

So the game was leaked?

Correct. There are two types of source code.
  1. Open Source: basically the creator/coder of a program/game shows how the game was coded so people can go through it, look for things the original creator/coder might have missed during the bug testing phase, and improve upon it with their own code.
  2. Closed Source: Majority of companies do this so that people won't be able to tinker with it (at least without reverse-engineering tools). This is frowned upon though because people have been known to hide malicious code in their games/software to fuck with people's computers (bitcoin miners, DRM, trackers, illegal spyware, etc...)

Lots of flashbacks/flashforwards(?), Gordon gains an arm from Aperture Science, Marc Laidlaw left in 2015 due to "creative differences" and his displeasure of working there and that effectively crippled the game's development.

So from the /v/ thread I got this
I have tested the torrent, but not the mega upload, getting an error trying to download it part way through.
So if nothing else, Kiwifarms has some of your valve, get fucked!

What's wrong with the magnet link in the /v/ thread?

This is hilarious. Valve originally wanted Team Fortress 2 updates to gradually move 100% into community hands, starting with the Invasion update, but the (again, community) managers behind the project performed some contractual witchcraft to give themselves a lion's share of all profits generated from in-game sales. Now Valve can't even trust community "leaders" to deliver news snippets because it, somehow, leaked every ounce of source code in the company. They just can't win.

whatever prebuilt version of fstop is in the subversion repo runs fine, but the source won't build for me.

IIRC, the fstop in these leaks is purely a fan recreation that relations of VNN were working on

No, magnet link worked fine, I even said so. I said the mega upload was giving me an error, I put it didn't work right next to the mention of the mega upload, my bad on the miscommunication.
That said, the error was on my end with the Mega upload and it's legit the same thing. We got it bois.
