The yoinking happened because in retrospect a large part of the Venezuelan government sold the idiot bus driver out to the gringos. Its questionable that this will happen in Cuba.
Venezuela is basically ruled from a Marriot Hotel in Caracas. Various billionaires sniffing after privatization join Marines and US officials there. The actual US Embassy is bug infested from been closed for some years and is being fumigated. Delcy Rodríguez has to look after the detailed stuff. Cuba is in a much more miserable state. Unlike other Communist states like China and Vietnam, it failed to update in any serious fashion. Cuba is apparently run for the benefit of a military conglomerate GAESA which controls up to 70% of the economy from gas stations to hotels (the actual government is left the dross). Headed by one Brig. Gen. Ania Guillermina Lastres Morero who's connected to Raúl's grandson Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, who thanks to his family is a sort of Prince of the Blood. It was created by Raúl Castro himself in the 1990s. If the Cuban Military is neutered and Castro arrested, GAESA might be pulled apart, unless it's an actual effective operation that could prove useful to any US presence. Trump has got a reputation for empty threats (Iran), but carries them out when the opportunity is clear. Maduro certainly found out. This will be interesting indeed.

We're prepping plans for military action in Cuba. Between the indictment of Raul Castro, a carrier group showing up in theater, and now this, it's starting to remind me of the lead up to the churroing of Maduro.

The Iran threats were not empty. Half baked? Yes. Empty? No.
The threats of going beyond the destruction of directly relevant military positions from IRGC military industrial facilities and bases to missile launch sites were a bit empty. Perhaps 'half-baked' is better. There are claims the US were to make Ahmadinejad a sort of puppet rule by bombing his home so he'd escape. He had visited pro Israeli Hungary so maybe moved beyond his Holocaust denial etc, but he lost his nerve. The UK Guardian reporting on it didn't seem to entirely believe it. Raúl probably won't be laughing at Bluesky TACO memes any more. I wonder who's planned as the satrap. The Cuban authorities were tardy about reform but did appoint a lot of serious younger technocrats.

Cubas problem is they aren't thousands of miles away like Iran is. And unlike during the cold war, they dont have a nuclear armed guarantor anymore. If the USA wants to squash them like a bug, we absolutely can and we can do it right now with zero build up and zero warning. Just activate the National Guard in Florida and the gulf States, tell the Army to get their assess to Miami and Mobile and the Air Force to start bombing.

No lead time required, no build up required. The forces necessary to do it are already present and any mobilization required would be essentially blaring trumpets at the privates, kicking them out of the barracks and telling them to get to the air field.

Cuba is in range of the 101st Airborne launching helicopters from Florida, the 82nd taking off from Fort Bragg and hundreds of fighter aircraft and strategic bombers. All with no lag time and no aerial refueling required. The USA can carpet bomb the island and land 50,000 soldiers on it within 72 hours with no warning. Given a months lead time, the 50,000 number becomes half a million. And if the war last 3 months, becomes 1 million. With easy rotation by ferry and helicopter. The reserves and the guard could park their cars at wal-marts in New Orleans, do two weeks in Cuba, spend a couple hours going back to their car and drive home. After 6 months, fighting in cuba would become a commuter job, Monday thru Friday for the active military, weekends for the reserve and guard. assuming it lasts that long

The capability of the modern American military on a country 90 miles from its border is beyond terrifying.

What kinda jackass leaves their car in a walmart parking lot for two weeks?

Well, if the Wal Mart parking lot is appropriated for military purposes. Which cannot be done due to the Third Amendment. But Wal Mart would be given an offer they cant refuse. Let us use the parking lot to stage equipment, or the great state of Florida will use eminent domain and "buy" the property from you.

Would actually be a fun legal scenario if it was actually litigated. The 3rd amendment has gotten zero love from the judicial branch over the 250 years of the Republic. But lets be real. Wal Mart absolutely would grant permission for the Army to use their parking lots. And any nigga dumb enough to try and rob an Army motor pool doesnt deserve to live.

Like 10% tops, having a stable power grid is something many will avoid losing. But still, it will make deportations easier.

🇺🇸⁉️🇨🇺 — The United States Department of Justice announced that it has called a press conference in Miami, where it is expected to present criminal charges against Cuban dictator Raúl Castro over the deaths of four pilots from the organization Brothers to the Rescue. According to reports from Miami Herald, the future of the communist ruler could be decided within hours.

This is exactly what happened before Maduro got churroed.

He's mad he couldn't get Greenland so will just settle with the next best thing, trying to get Cuba back. I just wonder how this will benefit Israel. 🤔

You guys gotta remember that Trump is a 79 year old billionare capitalist boomer who was 1 year old when the cold war STARTED
The guy was 16 when Fidel Castro was building nukes in Cuba
I assume that him fucking up Cuba would give him the same sense of catharsis I would feel if Israel got nuked
I think he will do it. More out boomer vendetta and legacy building than actual logical/political/military reasoning

Foolish Trump! BRICs might not have saved Maduro or the Ayatollah, but they definitely won't abandon their dear friend Cuba!
Maybe because it's not their job to save Venezuela, Iran or Cuba? Those countries aren't even part of Brics, and Brics is a economic block, not a military alliance

Do you guys even know what Brics is?

Nobody hates communism as much as people who were on the have not side of communism.
I was under the impression it was mostly moderately well-off people who fled when Fidel took power? It would make sense, at least. No one likes having their shit taken away, regardless of whether or not they deserve it.

I can't imagine why we'd use a CVN when we have a dozen airbases within a couple hundred miles of Cuba.
Unlike the air bases which are fixed known locations to the Cubans. The CVN is not tied down to one spot and thus the Cubans will not know where the USN and USMC aircraft will be coming from.

I'll be hanging out at the motor pool to sell ice cream and be kicked out of the property only to return with a sombrero hat and speak broken Spanish so I can sell the rest of my stock and fuck off with 500 bucks. I know the hustle my homie.

What are they going to do? Put cigars on a trebuchet and lob them at us?

Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (#FAR) conducted Air-Defence exercises as a part of the combat preparations. Seemingly the FAR unit used S-125M1 “Pechora-M1” Air-Defense System with 5V27 (V-601) Surface-To-Air Missiles.
Those consoles they are sitting in front of look fake as shit! LOL.

S-125 is an SA3, BTW. 1960s technology.
