Ugh. I know. I started this Cuba Collapse thread 1.5 years ago now and I was sure Cuba had a few months in it at best. I was like how tf long can a country with a constantly collapsing power grid keep going?!

At least a year and a half, it turns out.

EDIT: the kiwis really edging themselves are the South Africa collapse thread.
Communist shit hole countries are like catfish or roaches, able to take absolutely insane amounts of damage before death

I wonder what all the unironic communist roaches will do when Communism in Cuba dies, flee to Angola?
All the western ones will say America forced it to fail, like they do now. If you ask a commie why Cuba is a shithole, they'll tell you America's blockades and sanctions.

They ignore how this indicates commies have absolutely fucking pitiful amounts of power, no allies, and no ability to repel large scale economic blocks put in place by ideological and literal opponents.

Guantanamo Bay
I haven't thought about this before, but what happens WITH Gitmo if we take over Cuba in an official capacity? Wouldn't the land become properly "American" at that point, no longer being in weird limbo where the cuban government owns it but America leases it's uses exclusively?

If we annex Cuba then it'll be no different than any base in the US. When we Lasso the Castro nothing will change. Fidel refused to cash the check we sent them every year, keeping them in a drawer in his desk.

I've become partial to Capture & Castrate Castro. It doesn't roll off the tongue quite as magically as churro the Maduro, but a friend of mine said it last night and it had me cackling anyway.

The no different part is what I'm interested in. Many groups probably liked having a black site this close to a Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

China and Russia have expanded their intelligence operations in Cuba in recent years, roughly tripling personnel since 2023 to staff electronic surveillance facilities aimed at monitoring U.S. military activity in Florida, WSJ reports.

China operates three of Cuba’s 18 known signals intelligence sites, while Russia runs two, with some facilities reportedly operated jointly with Cuban authorities.

The primary targets are said to include CENTCOM in Tampa and SOUTHCOM near Miami, though officials said much of the intercepted material involves unclassified communications.

One senior U.S. official described the Cuba-based sites as among Beijing and Moscow’s most important foreign listening posts and said further expansion is expected.

The Trump administration has used the intelligence findings to justify increasing pressure on Cuba, including intensified surveillance efforts such as near-daily drone flights and repositioned spy satellites.

The ruling Angolese ruling MPLA were once indeed Marxist-Leninist, but now see themselves as social democrat. They'd find overpriced Luanda gives them little cheer. It's an effectively operated country with diamonds (which the former rebels UNITA and now second largest party) benefitted from) and oil for the purposes of enriching the ruling class and adjacents, like a bit for the UNITA cadres. Mainland China might be too hardnosed and technological. Vietnam is smaller version of China. All these people including some po faced Canadian tourist couple I saw interviewed on TV will have is DPRK. That might too real, so they'll have to flee to the fantasy world of Insta combox commies and claim this or that failed commie states weren't real commies or the sane person trying to debate them is lying.

I suppose for Rubio, a son of Cuban immigrants, declaring Cuba to be a national security threat, he's doing something meaningful in ending decades of communist waste and stagnation. While patently not always happy on the policies he's pushing, now is the time to be the Lider Máximo of this Caribbean island. Again, in a serious way, it offers a chance for Cuba to rise from the tomb of Marxist-Leninism. Chinese and Russian intelligence will have to find somewhere else to infest. What the US is doing does involve a degree of because it can. It's like Reagan and 1983 invasion of Grenada on a larger which had some pretext of rescuing medical students, but was really about squashing a communist dictatorship that could be squashed. Let jowly old Lavrov denounce violating sovereignty at the UN or whatever.

So you're saying it's a 3-4-1 deal if you call up 1 800 NOCASTRO and order now? Can I get some wings and 2L of Mountain Dew as part of the combo?

Would it be wise to watch and see if those sigint spots suddenly find themselves empty? I'm not sure how you would, but I imagine if the ruskies and slant-eyed softmetals think the US is taking over, they'll clean out and vacate any military positions and relevant documents.

I'm always monitoring geo-fenced Cuban restaurants near ChiCom and Ruskie sigint bases on my phone at Guantanamo levels.

We'd have to wait until someone reports on them leaving because I doubt we'd see their planes on ADS-B. If you're autistic you can monitor doppler radar over Cuba and look for anything weird that would indicate the ChiComs have fired up their radar that would look like this:

That radar signature is fascinating. This might be one of the most interesting and informative (despite how short the post is) posts I’ve ever read. Thank you.

Amid the deep energy crisis affecting Cuba, the communist regime reportedly mobilized numerous buses to transport state workers to a demonstration in support of Raúl Castro in front of the United States embassy, according to exclusive images from the island. While hospitals, ambulances, and basic services suffer from fuel shortages, the dictatorship once again made its priorities clear.
No EDM remixes of his speeches, no dancing I rate this demonstration a 4/10.
