Well, it reminds me of how a lot of animals eat their own placenta after birth presumably because it's full of nutrients and such. People don't really need to do it in the modern day unless they're starving or something since good nutrition isn't hard to achieve.

Most people can handle over-the-top or poorly made movie gore, but everyone's generally pretty sensitive when eyes get involved.
