I don't know if you have read up on how bad dog herds are for some communities. But basically, if you could eat rodent pests without getting sick. I guarantee they would eat them too.
They are only cooking the dogs because they're a pest. It's an important factor that all of them are local. As the population of wild dogs is a big problem to that area.

It's fine and all to find them cute, but people need to realise the reality of things.

I haven't tasted dog, as it's not available where I am. But I have tasted plenty of chicken, eggs, fish, pork and ox/cow. I even drink cowsmilk.
