Oh yes I did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP9p4qxbjOE was a personal favorite. Hats off to that guy, it has to be next to colo-rectal surgery for "specialty least desirable to apply for as a doctor".
Oh yeah - that one. I remember it's a really frustrating one where he has to extract it in loads of little tiny pieces, and the destruction of the bones etc. was really bad. I particularly liked Dr Zhao's 'termites and the table' explanation that he gave to the patient's family.

The ones where they manage to extract the cholesteatoma mainly in one piece can be freaky AF IMO - it's like a magician's trick seeing someone extract so much fucking stuff from such a small space. Like these:

Yeah it no doubt helps a ton when like in that case the patient has the Asian-predominant "dry" earwax type compared to honkies and darkies who mostly have the brown goopy earwax type.

I don't know why watching ear-cleaning and cyst-popping videos is so disgusting yet satisfying at the same time. I'm sure there's a psychology paper or two in unravelling that in someone's future.

That's often the case for regular cerumen extractions, but cholesteatomas are actually mainly comprised of keratin which is the white, pillowy stuff you often see coming out towards the end of an extraction, where it's still quite new.

It starts of as that white pillowy stuff, and then due to oxidisation and drying out, it gradually darkens, turns brown and hardens which is why often at the entrance to the ear canal it's hard, dark and crispy.

Blackhead clearing and pimple popping videos are pretty gross too, but fascinating. I wonder if part of it is our brains sympathizing with the relief and "clean" feeling of having that sort of gunk cleared out. The bad shit is gone. All is right with the world.

There are some pretty hardcore medical stuff on youtube. As someone who has gotten a lot of dental/jaw surgery procedures done, I know there are many videos of those things on YT. I don't particularly watch those, but they're there.

As someone who has very very severe trichotillomania they're actually pretty calming
