Rodentologist here (yes literally u can laugh if you want but we are 43 PERCENT of earths mammals we will be HEARD) most rabbit based lifeforms and indeed most murids, ungulates, creatures of leaping and creatures of chewing too, they all make cute adorable purring noises or are quite chatty if you have the honor of hearing it! Amongst their family members you will often hear them talking away, and with rats and mice, a bat detector picks up their higher frequency giggles and squeaks too! One common noise amongst many rodents is Bruxxing, the act of crunching ones ever-growing teeth (dont worry it doesnt harm them and sharpens their gnawers as well as maintains them). This is to accent an emotion they are feeling as being "A lot" so it may be that they are enjoying pets so much that they cannot help but bruxx to show their joy level. Youll hear males after a territorial dispute and fight also do this crunching, and even after being chased by predators, but its most often heard when somebody cuddles their pet rodents by us in particular.
