Glad I'm not the only one who despised pep rallies (aside from 90% of my classmates). The only upside to them is they were much better then the few misguided attempts at pep rallies we had in middle school (where we didn't have a gym, or cheerleaders, and barely even had a team).

Chris is probably depressed he wasn't allowed at pep rallies because they're part of high school. Specifically, they're part of high school shown on TV and movies. And Chris was probably obsessed with fictional high school long before becoming an actual high schooler. Regardless if he actually cared about sports or not, he probably loved the idea of school spirit. But even if that wasn't a factor, pep rallies are part of fictional high school and thus are a major part of high school, and that's all that mattered.

Yeah I recall pep rallies basically being "do whatever the hell you want as long as it doesn't raise its own ruckus" and then you timed your ruckus-raising things to when the crowd was loud and standing.

When I was in High school, me and my friends loathed pep rallies. We always thought they were gaudy and existed solely to promote shit we didn't care about (I.E Football, homecoming).

Does that make me weird? I hate it when I find weirdly specific similarities between me and Chris.

I doubt you're the only one who dislikes pep rallies. They're basically celebrations for the sake of celebrating.
