This is precisely why I never play the demo machines in a store.

I think that had you been at that particular demo station, you wouldn't have gotten a chance to play any PS3. If by some chance Chris got tired of playing their PS3, he would he just plugged his GameCube in and started playing Animal Crossing.

You just know this is learned behavior from his parents due to years of them using the demo consoles in stores to babysit him while shopping.

I recall Chris would hog the television and games at The GAMe PLACe, "[...} he would truck his video game consoles into The GAMe PLACe and take over the shop's flat-screen TV for considerable amounts of time, loudly sing along to Britney Spears during games"

Are there any pics of Borb when they were young? I seem to think of Bob as some sort or eternal senior. It a way it is kind of sad that Chris never really had a father figure, he had crusty grandparents sheltering him.

Okay, it's someone else, but I think there may be some similarity here.

spices on the shelf of what appear to be home movies or TV recordings on VHS

what strange people hoarders are
Considering the state of their kitchen, I wouldn't be surprised if Bob had his own little microcosm in his few alotted square feet of non-hoard-space. So having a few spices on his shelf to fine-tune his hungry man's isn't that strange.
In times like these I imagine Bob might have been the kind of guy who would have loved to have BBQs with his neighbors in the summers...
